I ve been going to this place since it opened and honestly the best shawarma in town ๐I also recommended it to my family and friends and have ordered food here numerous times. I think we spend at least $58 on each meal on a weekly basis bc we live close by. Just disappointed that they now charge $1 per sauce that is not poured onto the Chicken platter and one day I brought a friend there and we left without checking our order for the extra sauces we bought for $1 each. There were about 2 sauces. I went back to let them know a sauce was missing but they thought they were 100% sure they put the extra garlic sauce in the bag of orders. I almost felt like I needed to show them my purse to prove the sauce was really missing. I thought it was funny and just played it out and offered to pay for an extra sauce bc I always get my garlic sauce on the side๐คฃ I mean I wasn't going to start a fuss over $1 and they may not even know I was the best customer they had from the start! The owner heard and kindly came out and finally apologized for the misunderstanding and gave me my garlic sauce ๐. I just felt bad that restaurants have to lessen their portions and that nowadays ordering a nice meal with enough portions means so much to customers bc its hard to find good food these days. So I just want to say to Shawarma Cafe that the reviews fr customers look so positive and to continue w the best customer service to the public bc your food is good but is the best when customer service is a priority ๐ ๐๐๐ thanks Shawarma Cafe for your...
ย ย ย Read moreOkay, I don't normally give this high a rating for any food I take out. However, this is hands down one of the best, most fresh meals I've ever had in Metro Vancouver.
I ordered the chicken platter with pita. I was shocked at how good everything was. The hummus was extremely fresh and had the perfect hints of acidity and spice. The rice was cooked perfectly. The chicken was on a hole other level. The pieces were huge and packed full of flavour. The crispy bits were delicious and weren't dried out at all. A ton of sauce on top, which I didn't have to ask for, so I always appreciate that. The hot sauce in particular was SO good. It's not just Franks Red Hot, or a basic hot sauce, it was well rounded with medium heat. The pita was probably the most soft and delicious one I've ever had at a resturant like this. I would say my only complaint is the small salad size. I got two tomato halves and two slices of cucumber over a very small bed of greens. So if that's your favourite part, you may not enjoy it as much. Also, it was an extra 5 dollars for extra chicken which I think is a little pricey seeing as I don't think my plate was topped off all that much.
That being said out of 10 it's an easy 9.5. I don't usually get this excited about a new food spot. This will be one of my top new favourites. You really have to...
ย ย ย Read moreI got takeout through a food delivery service from this place. I had ordered from here in the past and remembered it being pretty good compared to the one around the corner from my place. There are SO many things wrong with this place! The food is not well flavoured or seasoned; the hummus tasted like chickpea paste without even a hint of garlic, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, etc. I know different places make hummus with different ingredients, but this was the worst I've ever had. The Tabouli salad had no dressing, the tomatoes were super mushy and the onions were too chunky. The rice was overpowered by the taste of what I think was cumin seeds (possibly caraway seeds) and half an hour after eating I can still taste it in my mouth. There was hardly any chicken on my platter and let's not get into the tiny squirts of garlic, tzatziki and hot sauce as there might as well have been none on there! The best part of the entire meal was probably the pita and the bottle of water I got for "free". I will never order from this place again especially considering that the terrible meal I just got was a whopping $21.99 but should have been...
