Ankabut Donair Kebab & Cafe [Halal] — Restaurant in Vancouver

Had a problem with Uber order. I came back to store driven myself to give an opportunity to correct the order but the owner was un polite, would not listen. I left untouched food after paying $30.

I am editing my review and lowing the ratings based on your reply. I did not abuse your staff based on my their nationality. I came from same background, so I simply asked since we both came from same background you would know why I cannot have that meat option (not sure how this is insulting based on nationality?). Secondly there was no cctv footage was part of conversation nor provided. I went to store to give you an opportunity if you would mind changing the order (Even after ordering delivery). Never asked for refund. I been to your store before many times and I never had an issue. I went to store with an expectation if you mind changing it but at the end left with not so pleasant conversation and returning food without touching it. I was done when you said ‘why don't you remove meat yourself’. I may have made mistake not understanding the menu on uber properly (I was under the impression that i choose chicken as uber pointed out in attached picture) but when you said remove meat yourself was not great customer service let alone accusing me...

I do not know where all the good reviews are from. The tasty is below average, the chicken is so dry. I have never seen a sharwarma has this small portion.

Regarding to the response from the management. First, I think it is very creepy and scary that you checked the cctv and find out who left a bad review.

Second, I do not care it is a shawarma or a plate or what? the portion is small as shown on the picture and small portion is also mentioned in other reviews.

Third, I always asked for sauce in a separate container at other shawarma or donair restaurants, I have never got charged for extra. The cashier did not mention about the extra charge, and I did not ask for all 3 sauces, and I clearly told her I don’t want spicy, so you should train your staff better.

The last, your chicken is dry like jerky, no matter how much sauce on the chicken, dry is dry. This is not my first time eating the similar cuisine. I have probably been to more Middle East restaurants than you. Your meat is not freshly grilled, they are in that container behind the counter. Also, the radish in the sad salad is bitter.

I will not reconsider my rating, I wish I can give you a 0 star for your food...

Roommate and I decided to try the new donair place in the neighborhood for takeout last Friday. Very clean establishment and very nice service staff. I had the mixed chicken/beef platter and it was delicious. Only complaint is the portion size. They only fill the box half full, including the salad and hummus. I usually have leftovers when I order the platter at other places but finished this one easily and could have finished another one to be honest. That they do not include pita bread with the platter does not help. But to be fair it was cheaper than the other donair places in the neighborhood. All in all, will come again because the food was delicious, but probably just for a snack.

Update: Decided to give this place another chance, even with the large price increase. Portion size is still half the size of nearby competitors and still do not include pita bread even when asked for it. Chicken was a bit dry but otherwise the food was ok. Staff was pleasant enough, but wouldn't say friendly. The place is clean at least. Nothing to really bring me back here, considering there are much better options...
