Had a well cooked and enjoyable breakfast, the poached eggs couldn't have been cooked more perfect! Sadly there was an issue. Sat next to me and my fiance was a mobility impaired persons who had finished his meal and the server was issuing the bill, the customer asked why it was more than usual considering he had things removed from the order as he does not eat them. The server became argumentative and talked over the customer. The server then lost his temper and threw the bill across the restaurant. Came back with the bill lowered the few dollars and I offered to pay the bill for the customer. though appreciative he declined my offer and politely paid and excused himself. The server turned to me and my fiance and apologized for the ordeal and complained that this customer is always difficult. I didn't not see a difficult customer. I did see a customer service representative completely loose their temper at a very small inconvenience. My drink was comped due to the glass I was drinking from was chipped and cracked. Overall the food was really well prepared but this server either needs a break or a different path as his reaction to a customer speaking calmly to him was completely...
Read moreI recently visited a charming breakfast spot and decided to try their signature dish, "The Mess." It was an absolute delight and exceeded all my expectations. "The Mess" is a hearty combination of scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, sausage, and hash browns, all smothered in a rich and creamy cheese sauce. Each bite was a perfect blend of flavors and textures, with the smoky bacon and savory sausage complementing the fluffy eggs and crispy hash browns.
The portion size was generous, making it an ideal choice for anyone with a big appetite. What truly set this dish apart was the cheese sauce – it was incredibly creamy and added a luxurious touch to the whole meal. The dish was served piping hot, and the presentation was surprisingly neat for something called "The Mess."
The ambiance of the breakfast place was cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff who made sure my coffee cup was never empty. The service was prompt, and the prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food. If you're looking for a hearty and satisfying breakfast, I highly recommend giving "The Mess" a try at this delightful eatery. I'll definitely be...
Read moreThe Basic, formerly Joe’s Grill, is hand’s down the restaurant that impresses me most in Vancouver. It is first and foremost a diner, so take it in that context. They have amazing brunch options and are very good with gluten free options. I remember visiting San Diego’s most hyped downtown brunch diner and it had nothing on the Basic. It’s a no fuss, but also extremely casual and welcoming place. The staff are amazing and it is clear that they have excellent management as most have been around for years. That have a great outdoor patio with heaters and a street side patio in the summer. In fact, I have been so consistently happy with The Basic over the years that during the pandemic I made it a point to give extra large tips to help them out. Now that the pandemic seems to be mostly over and they are getting more business, I’m slowly returning to more regular tips, but remain just as impressed. If you are looking for a diner or brunch, look no further than The Basic. Thanks so much...
