Our family recently had the pleasure of staying at the Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver, BC, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. This hotel truly exceeded our expectations in every way, making our family vacation memorable and enjoyable.
Location: First and foremost, the location of the Sheraton Wall Centre is unbeatable. Situated in the heart of downtown Vancouver, we were within walking distance to numerous attractions, restaurants, and shops. Stanley Park, Granville Island, and the Vancouver Art Gallery were all easily accessible, allowing us to explore the city with convenience and ease.
Check-In and Staff: Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the front desk staff, who made the check-in process quick and seamless. The team at Sheraton Wall Centre was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our stay, always ready to assist with a smile. They provided us with great recommendations for local dining and activities, which greatly enhanced our visit.
Rooms: Our room was spacious, modern, and impeccably clean. The large windows offered breathtaking views of the city skyline and the surrounding mountains, which was a delightful sight to wake up to each morning. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep after our busy days exploring Vancouver. The room amenities, including the flat-screen TV, mini-fridge, and complimentary Wi-Fi, were all top-notch and contributed to a very comfortable stay.
Facilities: The hotel's facilities were equally impressive. We thoroughly enjoyed the indoor pool, which was a hit with our kids. The fitness center was well-equipped and maintained, allowing us to keep up with our workout routines. Additionally, the hotel's beautifully landscaped courtyard provided a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city, perfect for a relaxing stroll or simply unwinding with a book.
Dining: The on-site dining options at Sheraton Wall Centre were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which offered a wide variety of delicious options to start our day. The quality of the food and the attentive service made our dining experiences at the hotel very pleasant. The in-room dining service was also prompt and convenient, perfect for the nights we preferred to dine in the comfort of our room.
Customer Service: The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the outstanding customer service. Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. From the housekeeping team to the concierge, everyone was dedicated to making our stay special. They even surprised our kids with small treats and activities, which made them feel extra special and added a personal touch to our visit.
Overall Experience: In conclusion, our stay at the Sheraton Wall Centre was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of a prime location, luxurious accommodations, excellent facilities, and outstanding service made it the perfect choice for our family vacation. We left with wonderful memories and a strong desire to return. We highly recommend the Sheraton Wall Centre to anyone visiting Vancouver, whether for business or leisure. Read moreDon't expect any rest in this bizarre step-down-from-a-motel that only innovates in the many ways it annoys customers.
Though this is most obvious with the game described below, it starts at check in - in-person, as mobile checkin was disabled so they can swipe your credit card.
The lobby experience is strange; it looks like an empty studio with the only decoration being an unusual large poster celebrating their central location and two awards from decades ago. The staff have show the same distain every time I've checked in here. If you have status don't look for the elite line, there isn't one, and while other hotels make a welcoming comment acknowledge your loyalty, the only elite benefit you should expect is a bonus scoff if you bring up the topic.
The pool is spacious and the second hot tub was needed. Sauna rooms are bolted shut with a sign for staff use only.
In the room, any attempts to sleep will be instead replaced by a game of "what's that sound?"
At one point it seemed like a reality show dedicated to creating as many disruptive noises as possible, and the array is actually impressive. Some hints for if you play the game:
-adjacent bathroom noises that are so vivid you'll check for water dripping into your room. I've never actually heard bodily fluid excretion from the next hotel room before.
there are at least 6 different kinds of fan noises: the raging leaf blower (room heat); bathroom fan; plus the quieter versions of this from the heaters of the rooms beside, above, and below; with a bonus TWO different fans that not only rumble the entire wall but also one of them rattles the grate like a marble in a tin can in a paint shaker.
-enjoy entire conversations of crystal clear voices which may be heard from any of the surrounding rooms or the hallway
-Street noises of revving engines and sirens, like in any city, but sirens are especially likely thanks to the hospital across the street
-elevator bells, an optional addition that makes you suspect that this is all being done on purpose
Lobby restaurant apparently exists in another tower; closer food inside the hotel is a Subway restaurant if you're in the mood for snackwiches.
Location is good and pool is large but if you value rest, that's where the positives end.
I had a better rest at the last hotel where I stayed, and that was an unexpected night at holiday inn next to the highway when the faucet broke off.
The icing on the cake is the hotel bill emailed to you directing you to their web store so you can pay more to "Bring the Sheraton sleep experience home with you." I'm guessing that means they sell subwoofer speakers.
Edit - couldn't discuss on checkout as it was e-checkout but props to the manager Frank for reaching out to me within an hour of completing their satisfaction survey and offering to speak about coming back. Still won't stay as sleep is important but that's...
