Holly (hope I am spelling your name right) is the best! The Painted Ship was a wonderful stop along my day. I love the decor and music vibes. When Holly asked if I wanted any food with the drink I was excited to try and I mentioned I have celiacs, they were easily able to accomodate me. After a moment of someone coming up a bit close in my space, squeezing between another patron and me and starting a conversation (lovely synchronous ones a couple chairs away had already happened which were fabulous) Holly intervened and had the man leave me alone and assured me it was a safe and inclusive space and would help keep all comfortable in there. I am more grateful and happy to have found The Painted Ship than I could have ever realized before going in. The drinks and food I had were sooo delicious and unique. Highly recommend. I am excited to return for live music and more food, drinks, and chill time. I wanted to try a bunch of things so I ordered more than others would probably for just 1 person and if I knew better how the check out terminal worked (now I understand the options) I would have spent more to thank Holly and look forward to next time we are in there together. I do not really know all that goes into a server or bartender's job (maybe they are a manager too, IDK) but I feel Holly went above and beyond with everyone to make sure we were all cared for and felt taken appreciated while dining / having drinks / taking centering self time to enjoy being out amidst others yet with our own...
Read moreI had a really average experience here on Saturday at Happy Hour. We had a party of 4 and ordered two tacos each, and a drink each initially, and when the food came the tacos were all on the wrong plates so we had to swap - this wasn’t really a big issue so we didn’t say anything at the time. When I ordered a second drink I ordered the Volcan Picante which I have had many times before and LOVE but when my drink came it looked and tasted completely different and on reviewing the menu I realised she had made me the Violet Wave. I checked with my friends if they’d all heard me order the Volcan and they had said yes as I distinctively had a conversation about how much I like the heat in this drink with the waitress (which is very notably different to the Violet Wave). Again I didn’t want to kick up a fuss as I was two sips through the drink before I realised it was wrong so felt I couldn’t raise it at that point, so didn’t say anything but I was pretty disappointed. When the time to tip came the minimum tip amount was 22% which I would have been fine with if the service had been good but it felt stiff considering the service was pretty average and I didn’t even get what I ordered. I have no problem with wait staff not using notepads if they can get the order right, but in this instance there would have been no shame her using a notepad if it ensured we all actually got what we ordered. I’m bummed as I normally...
Read moreI live in the neighbourhood and decided to stop in one day on my way home from running errands. The Server suggested the Broccolini & Shiitake Mexicali Chow Mein and it did not disappoint!!! It was absolutely delicious.
I’ve returned a couple more times when out walking my puppy (they have an outside street patio) and I tried the Tostada and both the chicken and pork rib Tacos. All were super delicious.
Would highly recommend checking out The Painted Ship whenever in Kits. I would even suggest making a trip to Kits to check it out.
I gave it a 3 star for atmosphere because I’ve never sat inside but I’m confident I would give it a 5. The Servers are also excellent!!
It is a little over priced for some of the menu items but in saying that, everything is expensive...
