I used to come to Jun Yuan often, years ago, definitely before covid! Used to love it here. I didn't mind some rude services because they were so busy all the time (must be tiring), but this time it's different.
I did debate whether they deserve 2 stars or not but here's why I gave only 1 star.
Worst AYCE ever.

The night started off well, welcoming service, asked if we want some appetizers, and serve us tea. Appetizers took quite a long while but chicken wings was hot and crispy and the salmon was the same. Except the salmon pieces were so small and there were 3 of us, we tried to order more but the lady said no. She asked us to finish all the food we just ordered first. We were very hungry but waited for the food.
I, personally (that night), only like the deep fried salmon, marinated beef, prawn, homemade wontons, and veggies. Out of everything we had, that was it! I didn't even like the broth which should be the best part, ordered the chicken wine soup base and the spicy lamb. The chicken wine doesn't taste like what it's supposed to be but it was edible, but as they refill the broth, it became super tasteless. The spicy lamb, I didn't even touch, tasted so horrible.
I tried to clear almost everything, despite it being not so good, before order some more. (To be exact, it was 2 piece of pumpkin, 2 piece of lotus roots, 2 wontons, deep fried salmon, and a spring roll) The lady stare at me and was grabbing some paper and told me about the 1.5 hours time limits to order. She said it's okay this time and took the order paper, but her face seems very unhappy. So, I said sorry I didn't know. It wasn't much, if it's still okay I'll take it, if not it's okay (Most of the time we were chatting and slowly eating as there were plenty of table, if she let us know in the beginning we would be mindful of it). She shook her head and didn't really say anything, just made a gesture that it's fine this time.
She was cleaning a table near us and the guy came to serve the food instead. She followed and mumble in Chinese with the guy (which I didn't understand), she then grab the veggies on my table with bare hand and combined them into one plate! She was just cleaning the nearby table, how is that acceptable??? So unhygienic! O_O We were shocked. She definitely wasn't happy with us, it's in her face.
We also had to repeatedly ask for tea, even when there was only 2 tables including us.
So, what's bad? Soup bases Blood cube taste foul Even wagyu wasn't good, super tough Didn't let us order more, but also didn't warn us before time is up to order more items. We said if it's too late, it's okay. She chose to accept it but treated us badly afterward. Touch our veggies with bare hands when she just cleaned another table No refilling tea (have to ask multiple times) No refilling soup base (and when refilled, it was tasteless) Some veggies came partially rotten. Beef tongue came cooked for some reason, unlike other place. Ordered 5 daily dessert for 3 people. Got 1 normal size and 2 bowls containing 2 smaller pieces. It was coconut jelly, tasted like geletenous tap water. Lamb was super gamey! We usually love lamb, but was struggling with theirs. Meat and many items are cheap & low in quality. Below average.
I don't think we would ever return here. So many other better hot pot places around.
What's good? Deep fried salmon Marinated beef was tender Prawn Homemade wontons Pea...

I just had the worse all your can eat ("ayce") experience here. I have never 1 - Still been hungry after eating ayce and 2 - experienced the worse attitude from the boss lady.
Don't get me wrong, their food quality is pretty good, but they do not give you enough food. They have a very strict 2 hour window which I understand, however, for our first hour, they kept going giving us an assortment of meat and seafood balls and some random vegetables.
We ordered chicken wings, beef (is a scarce commodity here), tofu and assortment of other vegetables. However, they only gave us an assortment of balls and a few vegetables, if they are nice they will give you 2 of something else you didn't order. They kept giving us noodles, to fill us up. There was at one time we had nothing in our pot as it was empty, we looked over at other tables, they had the same thing, nothing on their tables and their pot was empty.
After an hour or so of which seemed to be endless assortment of balls and wontons only (it was not endless they gave us 2 of each type of balls and 6 wontons but that was all we had to eat nothing else!), they slowly started to give you some beef and other items (still not the amount we have ordered). When your 2 hr is up, the boss lady would come over and say we have put all your orders in and please EAT FASTER as our next table is waiting. They quickly gave us some of the items we have ordered and asked us to leave. I have never in my whole life been asked to eat faster at a restaurant. When we explained what happened she kept saying we already put all your orders in and it is arriving now. In total they gave us 30% of what we ordered, all our friends had to go out to eat at another restaurant. For a restaruant that charges 30 dollars per head, I would expect to be full after leaving.
So their formula is this Starve the patrons and give them some noodles and fish balls and wonton to satisfy their hunger Give them what they ordered but only 30% of what they asked for Ask them to leave because their time is up.
This is truly the biggest scam I have ever endured eating in Vancouver all my life. Please do not go to this place and encourage this type of behavior in our city. We deserve better quality in our city. They should be ashamed to resort to these...

Went here with a group of 7 and we didn’t speak Chinese and the lady didn’t know much english. We are assuming this is a family restaurant. The lady was super sweet and she even explained what the character writing meant. So let’s review!
Price: AYCE , we chose the 39.99 because we love wagyu and other dishes that had to be paid extra
Doesn’t include: drinks, desserts and hotpot broth.
Highlights it includes: deep fried chicken is delicious here, deep fried salmon, wagyu beef slices! , pea sprouts (not many restaurants include this, I love these veggies!) , squid, prawns, and many more
Cash and debit only!
Food: they plated all the meat really pretty, everything is delicious
Drinks: my go to is herbal tea and coke
Service; they don’t speak much English as it’s a family restaurant but the lady is super sweet! She always knows when to come when she overhears we need something.
In the beginning when I was writing the numbers to order for the meat. I thought it meant by plate so I would order 5-6 per meat. She told me it was per slice and helped me changed the order knowing how much MORE we should order for the group. I love how caring she is and it was a good first order amount. Always there to our table and in the end she gave us mandarin oranges mini ones. She saw how we loved it as a refreshment because it’s sweet and cold. So she came in with another batch when we never asked for it. We all loved how sweet of a gesture that was! Amazing service (NYE) , didn’t catch her name but she was the only staff at night.
Atmosphere: very old, blinds were covering the windows so it looked sketch, didn’t even know it was a hotpot until our friend told us.
Overall: lovely service and food. They need to update...
