As a client, I always enjoyed their food. As a driver, I am appalled by the assumptions and treatment towards me on behalf of the owner and the unprofessional staff.
Upon entering to pick up my uber delivery, I was asked if I have a hot bag. I replied by saying yes, it is in my trunk. They told me to come in and show it to them.
To start our interaction off by essentially telling me that I am a liar, when I already said that I do in fact have a bag and that I am telling the truth, is unprofessional. Furthermore, to then ask me to show them the bag as a "favour" was absolutely ridiculous. Why would I do a favour for somebody who assumes the worst of me and comes to the conclusion that I do not speak truthfully without even knowing me? At that point, you have already lost my respect.
I was upset, as any reasonable person would be after having this assumed of them. But I proceed by grabbing my bag from the car anyways, albeil in a poor mood, to present the bag to the staff. Their response was a mocking "ahhh see that wasn't so hard". Strike two.
For the owner to then tell me that I am no longer welcome to eat in any of his restaurants because he owns all of them in the area is strike three, tripling down on their stupidity.
And despite all of this, I still delivered the order, even though I was more than within my rights to cancel the order. Why? Because the client should not have to pay for a restaurant owner's asinine behaviour. 👍 Some restaurants require the bag, but not to have the driver prove it to them by having to fetch it and present it to them, my job is already tough enough. He was more than welcome to come to my car and see it for himself.
After this engagement, I called uber and asked them. Nowhere in the uber policy does it state that I am required to prove this. It is recommended that I have one for deliveries, but it is not up to the restaurant to decide that I am guilty until proven innocent. Furthermore, if the food is delivered cold, as a delivery person, I am the one who suffers from a poor tip and rating. The restaurant was already overstepping their bounds by automatically stating that I am not an honest person.
Word of advice, before you claim that you understand policies and make ridiculous demands from people, know what you are talking about.

It is an excellent restaurant with the best poutine in town which is why I was relieved to just have had made it there 10 minutes before closing today (dec 22), I walked right past the bright "ouvert" sign that showed the restaurant closed at 8pm and there were two employees inside so one could imagine my surprise to find the door locked. I knocked on the glass to which the man behind the counter responded by gesturing that they were closed. As this happened, two other would-be customers walked up only to find the door locked as well. That was just lazy and shows an unacceptable lack of respect to customers...
