Oh my goodness, this Choice of the Orient restaurant WOODBRIDGE location has amazingly great tasting food! So here's the story: My boyfriend and I used to order from the Richmond Hill location, being that we live close by to that location. We ordered from Richmond Hill for several years. When the restaurant sold, we continued to order from there- infrequently- for a short while. Everything we loved about that location changed. The food didn't taste nearly as good, we had some mix-ups with our orders, and the warm greetings- well, that changed , too. And so, rather than find a new restaurant, we just stopped buying Chinese food. Until today. After so long without eating Chinese food, our cravings got the better of us. We knew there was a Choice of the Orient Woodbridge location. We thought we'd chance it, and drive to that location. Upon making the telephone order, my boyfriend happily reported the woman that he spoke to was so nice and friendly. That was the first good sign. And, that's when he learned that the Woodbridge location owners had been the original owners of the Richmond Hill restaurant before they sold it to the current owners. Good sign number 2. When he walked into the Woodbridge location, he was greeted by the same wonderful young woman who had taken his order over the phone. When he arrived home with our food, it smelled so good! None of the odor that I describe as 'barn' smelling. I began dishing the food out and had to stop. I began eating it out of the containers. The food was as good as I remembered it when the owners had owned the Richmond Hill location. So happy to know that we can once again order great quality tasting Chinese food! The drive is a bit out to Woodbridge, but it isn't a big deal when you realize that you are getting food you can actually enjoy eating and not tossing it in the garbage. I don't believe in writing negative comments, but in order to help out other former customers of 'the old location ' I felt it was necessary so that former customers such as us would know that the same great tasting food that they used to know and love is here...
Read moreI had the worst experience at this restaurant. A group of about 8 of my friends and I went to eat at this restaurant. We wanted to try something new. That was a horrible idea. We regret going to this restaurant. The food was exceptional but the customer service was absolutely horrible which made us lose our appetite. The waiter was VERY rude. He started off by telling us that since we don't have reservations "We need to leave in less that 45 minutes" so that they could accommodate other guests. He wasn't smiling or friendly. When it came time to pay, they informed us that they can not split the bill for us and on top of that they told us that we can not pay with debit. Apparently they only take credit cards. And please don't get me started on the owner of the restaurant. He was SOOOOO unbelievably RUDE. He told us the "He's the owner of the restaurant" and if we don't like the way things are done than we can leave. He told us that he doesn't care if we write a bad review. In my opinion I think they probably had some time of cultural prejudices. It was very hurtful for me and my guests. We are are a group that love people of all backgrounds and cultures. If you know what's good for you DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT!!! This is just a friendly warning. There are many other restaurants out there with good food and exceptional customer...
Read moreI strongly advise against dining at this restaurant. I rarely write reviews unless my experience is exceptional—positively or negatively—and unfortunately, this falls into the latter category. The food was deeply disappointing, especially as I was eager to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine. I ordered several dishes, but none met expectations. The chicken and vegetable noodles were bland and had a burnt flavor, which I was told is “normal” due to their preparation in a frypan. However, serving food with a burnt taste is unacceptable. The “crispy and spicy” beef special was another letdown—described as crispy, it was instead dry, overcooked, and resembled cardboard in texture, lacking any discernible spice. The appetizers were equally underwhelming. The fried breaded shrimp were coated in excessively thick breadcrumbs, overpowering the shrimp itself. The fried rice was similarly tasteless, lacking seasoning or depth. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, the service was lackluster. As a first-time customer, I expected attentive service or helpful menu suggestions, but neither was provided. Overall, the experience was so poor that I have no intention of returning. Food:...
