I was initially not going to post a review but after my family and I were "reminiscing" about brunch today, I feel I must point my experience for future diners. Went for brunch yesterday with my dad and fiancé, I wanted to make sure we went to a really nice spot and with good food. I read the reviews, looked at the pics and the menu, and everything seemed to point out we would. I was very excited because I wanted to treat my family to nice lunch to celebrate my recent engagement. Money wasn't an issue, I was ready to spend a bit more, since I was not only paying for the food, but also the experience and the memory. I will note that we did come in at 2:00pm, they close kitchen 2:15 and the restaurant at 3pm. As soon as we walked in, someone approached my dad, they quickly cleaned a table and sat us down, we ordered within 5-10 mins, all of our food came almost at the same time. We ordered 2 brisket Benedicts, 1 tuna melt, 2 orange juices, iced coffee and a single blueberry pancake. THE FOOD: the brisket benedict was more English muffin than brisket, both my dad and fiancé made the same complaint. And to hear my dad complain about portion sizes is rare, since he doesn't always have a big appetite. I had the tuna melt, which ended up being a regular tuna sandwich NOT a tuna melt. the orange juice was NOT cold. BUT what did made us all look at each other at the same time was the salad (attached in the photo). You can't put a few greens together with salt and top it off with a cute pink flower on the top and call it a salad. It wasn't tasty, did not look appetizing, I did not finish it. THE SERVICE: not a complaint, just a highlight. I do want to first mention I have been a server before. I understand they might have been understaffed, in a rush to clean and one of the servers did mention to us they had been very busy that day. I do want to acknowledge they were all really nice and did try their best. Two little things to note are, our table's sauces (ketchup and hot sauce) were almost empty, and since we were 3 people dining they finish pretty quick, we tried flagging someone to ask for sauces but NOBODY looked our way, and I did not want to be that person to call a server out or get up and go get them or grab the sauces myself. But it wasn't until my dad asked the server who was closing the tab for the table beside us that we got only a hot sauce, not the ketchup. I think our server didn't hear us properly and we honestly didn't bother asking again. At that point we were almost done with our meals. And at the end, when our server asked us if we were ready to pay and how many bills. I quickly told her "just one" and she left it in the table in front of my dad. I guess she assumed he would be paying, I guess I should've specified I would be taking care of the bill. I just think she could've asked who was taking care of the bill and handed it to that person instead of just "letting us figure it out", since there wasn't any indication my dad would take care of the bill at any point. Not a big deal but I would've preferred for my dad to not know about how much money I was spending on a meal we just shared. I don't like people to know how much money I spend on them, just a personal preference. OVERALL: Our bill came to $95 (plus tip), and I can't help but feel disappointed because after spending that amount of money the one thing we did like was their potatoes and a blueberry pancake. I do honestly feel like this might have been a rare occasion and maybe some feedback will help them rectify...
Read moreI had brunch there with a friend last weekend. They were busy, the food took a while to come out but we were chatting so we didn’t mind, we were patient and the server was simply amazing. (So sorry I don’t remember her name. She was a beautiful woman of color, long hair, beautiful smile)
After we were served our meals, we were tended to by another gentleman who seemed to be rushing us. He kept asking if we were finished our meals etc…I asked him a few times, jokingly, if he wanted us to leave and he said no no take your time.
He eventually brought over the bill, we paid. I was finishing up my latte and a person that seemed to be the manager came over and asked us to leave. He said that they have people waiting. He tried to be polite about it, however this was in poor taste. We were there for about 1h 45 minutes. It took about 30-40 min to get our food + 1h to 1h 10 minutes to eat.
I didn’t like that, neither did the ladies seated beside us but I laughed it off and left. I’m a foodie, an avid reviewer, I’ve been to restaurants on every continent and in most cities and never have I been approached this way.
What’s interesting is that we left, went shopping and on the way back the ladies that were sitting next to us had just left. They had been there for well over 2.5 hours. There was still people waiting to be seated. The restaurant was still busy.
This approach was in very poor taste not to mention unprofessional.
Asking/pressuring guests to leave is not cool! Especially in a city where there are so many restaurants. When customers choose to eat at your establishment, they should feel welcomed.
The food was average, I would give it a (3 out 5). The presentation was okay (3) The first server (4). Second server (1) Manager or person that suggested/asked us to leave (0)
You would have gotten a (2.75-3) and I would have come back because initially the service was good. Unfortunately the interaction with this person, brought your score to (2.2)
I would suggest that on your website you publish a time limit for tables on your busy days.
Some restaurants do this and it’s perfectly fine. Upon being seated, the server lets the client know before ordering this way there are no...
Read moreWill not go back was mis-treated, disrespected and offended. If I was not hungry and really excited to try this place. I would have left. My wife and I walked in and sat at a two table (corner booth) which seats 5. We wanted to order lots of items and wanted a little extra space for our plates. We were immediately approached by a young man who very rudely and arrogantly said we could not sit there because it was for 5 and it May be reserved or May be given to a bigger group that walks in, (place wasn’t that busy). My wife and I bit our tongues and quickly moved to a table for 4 after he suggested a tiny table for 2 also suggested by the rude/ignorant server. As we are eating our meal, food was great nothing wrong with the meal, other than the crème brûlée French toast was very soggy. As we are eating we notice 2 people sitting in a booth of 10 people. I quickly turned to the table we originally wanted to sit at and it was still empty. At this point we brought it to the attention of our server, who brought the manager or owner to our table (not sure who it was) I hope it was not the owner, because one would think someone who opens a restaurant would have the competence to train your staff that any customer is a customer no matter what. She starts to say to us oh we apologize but those people are influencers and they are working! We were shocked and disgusted I wanted to throw up my food on the floor. That’s racist/disrespectful/unacceptable/prejudice /judgement all. if an influencer (a young one at that) gets more respect and better treatment than anybody else than I don’t want to be at your place. You clearly don’t understand how to run/operate a hospitality business. We will not be returning and you can thank it to your disrespectful/ignorant staff member who offended us and treated us like we were nobody. We received no apology from said person only our server. You will not get far treating people like this I promise you. My wife and I are both in hospitality and service and we are shocked to be treated like this. It is...
