I rarely write negative reviews but it's warranted here given the incomprehensible high rating. Here's my first experience with a place friends had raved about:
The good: very clean; quiet and peaceful; unpretentious; generous portions; good quality Turkish tea; efficient serving time.
The bad: overpriced gien mediocre quality (but that you'd already know from the menu before visiting).
The ugly: I was excited to order a the doner plate but left the restaurant smoked in salt. Not only were doner pieces overwhelmingly salty, but they were so inconsistently. Some pieces were rolled in salt inside and out and some tasted over-salty only on the inside. Human errors are forgivable. Maybe the chef's hands had an untimely shake, maybe a moment of forgetfulness, maybe the seasoned chef was off ...
But when the customer politely mentions the problem without imposing on the restaurant to change the plate, the courteous and responsive action is for the manager to hear the problem and respond appropriately. Instead, our server responded that "a lot of customers have ordered the dish today without any issue."
Well, there were only a handful guests dining on a Saturday eve which would normally have to be busy. So I'm not sure how many ghosts had ordered the same plate earlier on the same date. But regardless, that is a purely dismissive response from an untrained server.
I would not be patronizing a business which takes its online rating for granted without making an effort to rectify errors improve quality, and offer responsible...
Read moreI took my mom and my husband there today to try it out as my friend who’s Turkish kept recommending this restaurant. So there’s something that I noticed about the service and the quality of the food we received. At the beginning I wished I was wrong but after the observation I realized it was something different than the other tables. But thankfully, when I told the guy who’s in charge, he took care of it really well. Honestly, I was just trying to provide the feedback, because I believe it must take lots of effort to have a such high score on google review. I don’t want the same thing happens again and ruin their hard work. So there were two waiters at that time, one is younger with curly hair, the other one is a bit older with dark short hair. Apparently the short hair one was a bit more experienced, he served all the food of my table, especially the mix plate and I am pretty sure that he’s definitely aware of what he served and I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that he did it on purpose. I don’t write reviews too often, but I really would like to let their management know, one of their waiters really needs to work on his morality. But I’m still give it five stars because the staff who’s in charge really took my feedback seriously, and I felt respected from his response, also their flavour is good, and the other staff worked really hard, it’s not fair to ruin their hard-work just because that waiter. I would definitely recommend it to...
Read moreCame to this Turkish gem in Thornhill after being hyped up by friends – and it totally delivered! Even before peak dinner hours, the place was buzzing (overheard neighboring tables saying they found it on social media too 😄).
✨ The Highlights: MUST-ORDER MIX PLATTER: We got the Mix Kebab Platter for Two (perfect for 3 adults + 2 kids!). The sizzling butter-coated lamb chops and juicy beef chunks were heavenly. The wooden board overflowed with grilled chicken skewers, wings, tender Adana kebab, beef kebabs, plus fluffy bulgur wheat, rice, fresh salad, and crispy fries. A carnivore’s dream!
UNLIMITED BREAD HEAVEN: The freshly baked, unlimited Pide bread (like Turkish naan) stole the show – especially paired with creamy hummus and tangy yogurt dip. Kids (and adults!) couldn’t stop tearing into it.
STAR DISH: KEYFI FIRIN KEBAB – Slow-cooked lamb shank so tender it fell off the bone! Served with more pillowy bread – absolute comfort food magic.
KID-FRIENDLY TOUCHES: My little ones loved watching their Mix Pide (Turkish-style pizza with 3 toppings) puff up in the stone oven! The open kitchen staff even invited them to peek behind the scenes – such a warm, interactive experience.
AUTHENTIC FINISH: Ended with rich Turkish coffee and aromatic tea – felt like a mini...
