I've been coming to this place for 10 years, I work close by. Today I experienced the most humiliating morning. I have a medical condition that doesn't allow me to wear a mask or cover my mouth in any way. The irony is that this place has a standard York Region bylaw mask sign that clearly states medical exemptions. 2 ladies at counter refused to serve me at first. They started arguing that they can't serve me and if I have an exemption next time I have to bring a document, which is completely against Ontario Disability act. Customers at the store felt a need to humiliate me as well. Then owner came out and tried to tell me that it's not his choice to do that, but that health inspection might give him trouble. All I have to say: as an owner you have a responsibility to read by-laws and understand signs you put on the door of your business and train your stuff. During this pandemic I never had a problem going into grocery stores or other places without a mask. What happened to non visible disabilities, mental illnesses and so on? Why people became so unkind? I left the store crying and would never be back. I felt like I had to disclose my medical condition to the owner and stuff just to make them think twice next time they choose to discriminate someone. Shame, shame, shame. I am attaching screenshots of York...
Read moreI've been coming here since this place opened because my daughter loves their egg salad and the customer service USED TO BE great.
I just had a verrrryyy unpleasant encounter with one of the ladies who works there. I purchased a loaf of bread today but when I opened it to have a slice when I got home, something smelled sour and the bread was quite hard and dry. I went back to exchange it for a freshly baked one and the lady there rudely accused me of purchasing the loaf a few days ago, keeping it until today so that I can make the complaint and get a free and fresh one. She then told me that because I didn't have a receipt (which I wasn't given in the first place) I couldn't prove my claim of having bought it earlier today. She took a look at the loaf and said herself that it wasnt fresh, so there is no way that someone could have sold it to me. She then rudely returned me the money across the counter.
VERY disappointed with this place and will NOT be going here ever again. If youre in the food business, then you better sell FRESH food and treat your...
Read moreI have been a regular here for a few years, and I am so glad that they are in the neighbourhood.
I get their bagels very regularly. Their fresh bagels are often still warm (or even hot) when I get them, which is a real treat. Even their day-olds aren't bad, and I often cut and freeze them.
Their bourekas are great. I often get the day-olds, and if I can get them home without eating them all, I pop them in my toaster oven for a couple minutes. Perfection. Same with the pita they sell.
My family and I all agree that their challah is our surprising favourite, beating out Toronto's most notable bakeries. Sweet Rosh Hashanah challah is a wonderful annual treat.
The service is positively wonderful. I always stop to chat, and they always ask about me, my family, etc. They're incredible.
I don't get the sandwiches, so I can't say anything about that. At Chanukah, their sufganyot aren't bad, bur other local bakeries have better variety. But overall, this place is awesome and I would recommend it. Thank you...
