What a disappointment, truly. Our family had our eye out on this new location in our neighbourhood and decided to order a sushi tray for take-out on Valentine's Day, but what a mistake. We placed our order at 5:30pm online and promptly received an email that our order would be ready in 20 minutes by 5:50pm. Given that we ordered a party platter, however, we thought it might take longer so we headed out for pickup a bit later. By the time we got there and paid for our order, it was 5:57pm (time stamp on our receipt). It was only after paying that the waitress tells us it would be a 10 minute extra wait -- fine, no problem. 20 minutes go by and I ask for an update to which the waitress only says "Uh..." and walks away. I asked again 10 minutes later (by this point, pickup orders are piling up and angry customers are lined up at the front) and I'm still not given an answer as she ignores my question. She then asks to see my receipt, then goes into the kitchen area to tell the chefs something about my order and THAT'S when they start to make it. After even more waiting, I received my order at 6:45pm. For an order than was promised to be ready by 5:50pm. When I left, there were still A LOT of people without orders and I overheard her telling people doing phone orders it would be an hour wait. The restaurant itself didn't seem so bad but angry customers crowding around the front was probably awful for people dining in. The sushi wasn't even worth the wait, so many of the rolls were falling apart and the ingredients did not taste fresh. Seriously understaffed, inefficient, and not worth the wait or price, quite frankly. Would rather go further down Dufferin to some other AYCE places...
Read moreI have to be honest. As a sushi lover, I can taste the freshness of the sashimi and the other ingredients. Surprised because the reviews said the service was good. Took around 20 minutes since we sat down just for water. Asked for the water right when we sat down. One of the female workers here was super rude, also, came on a Wednesday, not busy. Asked the worker for simple questions like the wifi password, and promotions like paying cash = no tax, and she responded with such ignorance and attitude. I took my first bite of my food, the rice is horrible. Looks damp and stale. Honestly, if you drive around 7 minutes to another restaurant nearby, it’s a little more expensive like around $1-4 dollars more, you can tell that all of the ingredients are fresh, and that their rolls are a lot more filling and larger. It’s called aroohwa on Rutherford. Definitely recommend. In conclusion, the atmosphere is so much better than the service and food. Do not...
