Match Eatery & Public House — Restaurant in Vernon

First, we were there a couple weeks ago and the service was awesome, food was great so we mentioned to the waitress that we would come back for my birthday and she suggested we should make a reservation, which we did. We showed up at our reserved time, which happened to be grey cup. At our arrival we were told they were full and had no reservation for us. We told them that we had clearly made a reservation and so she got her manager. The manager came over and told us that she called us three times and that we should check our phone. We asked what number she called and as she’s looking through the book she says oh I don’t have a number for you. And then she basically turned around and said sorry have a good birthday and walked away with a very abrupt attitude. I was not happy with that and I went up to her and said “I’m sorry, but you messed up, not me and then she argued back at me again saying we called you and I said no, you clearly did not call and you even admitted you didn’t take a phone number. The apology was given in a very rude manner (the whole conversation was RUDE). She knew they screwed up and just wanted to get us out the door. I’ll admit, I was not polite back to her after she was so abrupt and rude with me. no where in the conversation did she actually admit that they had made a mistake. Mistakes happen and I can appreciate that. all she had to do was make a sincere apology, maybe offer us a $10 gift card for a free drink or something and we would’ve been quite happy to accept that. But there was absolutely no offer of compensation, and the apology was a joke. We went from a great experience to one that makes me want to...

I had a terrible time sitting at the bar the last time I came. The bartender was extremely rude and talked negatively about her coworkers and some of the customers including some of my friends that were at the bar. She turned our expirence watching the ufc fight with Anthony Smith and Jon Jones on March 2nd into a terrible evening. We decided we wouldn’t be going to Match again until this evening when we heard there was a live band of playing with nothing else going on in Vernon for our Friday night. It was then we decided to Match a second chance and we met Chelsea. What an AMAZING waitress. I’ve been a waitress myself and I’ve been to a lot of establishments and she made us reconsider our evaluation of The Match eatery and public house. She was quick and such a lovely person to have serving on our table. She put smiles on our face and was such a great presence within the lounge. I will absolutely be coming back if I can obtain the same service she provided. Definitely sit in Chelsea’s section if you have the choice. Best...

Terrible service, food is alright. My last experience here was by far the worst. a few months ago 3 of us came in around 9pm and the hostess wasn't sure if the kitchen was still open or not. Once she had determined that yes, the kitchen was still open, we were seated and told that our server would be by to take our drink order. That took about 20 minutes, once we received our drinks we waited another 20 minutes or so before we decided that we had to flag someone down. The server that we waved over was very apologetic and said he would be right back to take our order. He never came back. We finally caught the attention of another server and were told that he had gone home for the night. We were so fed up that we asked for our bill which consisted of 1 beer, 1 glass of wine and a water, after about 15 minutes we finally received our bill, payed and left. We will certainly not be returning to this location ever again.
