I first came here years ago, back when the business was run by the original owner. He only opened a few days a week, and the hours were short—Tuesdays onward, for just a handful of hours each day. But that was the beauty of it. The menu felt intentional, the food had character, and even with those limited hours, the place still made money because quality kept people coming back.
Fast forward to today under the new management, and it’s a completely different story. The schedule says it all: almost seven days a week, open until 2am. That’s not a sign of growth or success—it’s a sign of scrambling to stay afloat. And unfortunately, the food backs it up.
The potato wedges are the clearest example. They used to be crisp, seasoned, and memorable. Now they’re soggy, bland, and taste like something scooped out of a freezer bag. If the basics are failing, what does that say about the rest of the kitchen? The chicken itself is no longer consistent—some pieces are overcooked, others greasy and underwhelming. Presentation feels careless, like food is being rushed out just to keep up with long hours.
And here’s the real problem: the soul of the restaurant is gone. What used to feel like a rare find in Victoria now feels like just another late-night chicken shop, no different from a dozen others that stay open into the early hours. It doesn’t feel special anymore—it feels generic.
Even the reviews reflect it. The newer ones read like filler, short and vague with no detail—likely written to prop up the star rating. But regulars know the difference. You can’t fake authenticity, and you can’t fake taste.
The former owner earned his reputation through discipline and pride in the product. It’s clear that the new management didn’t inherit that legacy. Instead of preserving what made this place stand out, they’ve diluted it into something ordinary.
If you’re looking for late-night food, sure—you’ll find it here. But if you came hoping for the same quality and uniqueness this place once had, prepare to be disappointed. Victoria truly lost a gem when the...
Read morecalled in to order chicken and wedges for pick up and the male that I spoke to took my request for wedges and chicken. He mentioned that they had a special which was $26 for 20 wings. I specifically asked him if it were possible to spilthalf of the order into regular wings and the other half into spicy wings and after covering the phone for a few seconds (I am assuming he is asking someone else) he came back to say that it wouldn’t be a problem. I eventually show up to pick my order and when I go to pay, my order total was $15 more than what was quoted over the phone!!! I asked the young woman behind the counter why this was the case and after going over what I ordered, she proceeds to tell me that they do not split the orders for the $26 wing special. I then advised her that I spoke to someone there that took my order and they said that splitting the order into half regular/half spicy would not be a problem. She then replied that this was not possible. Let me note that she at no time turned around to ASK anyone else working there as to if they told me this while taking my order over the phone, she just simply wanted to over charge me. If this is how they treat their customers, I will take my...
Read moreAs a real lover of fried chicken, I make it a habit to try out any by-the-piece location I come across. I was particularly excited to try this location because of its long history and relative uniqueness.
It looks like the business recently changed owners, as the restaurant seemed to be far more a chinese food take-out than anything to do with fried chicken.
I ordered a 15 piece meal with gravy and fries, which cost roughly $50, not inexpensive, but not insane either.
The chicken itself was very crispy, but while it satisfied, it really didn't wow. The flavour was fairly weak, it could have been seasoned much better in my opinion. It tasted similar to chicken wings in Chinese restaurants, which I think it basically was.
The fries were large wedges, and they were actually pretty good, but the gravy was a real disappointment; it was beef based gravy, not chicken. The flavour wouldn't have been bad on roast beef, but I thought it poor they didn't cater to the chicken aspect of their restaurant offerings. I won't order...
