The moment you walk into La burrito, you see a group of people, whom before you speak to them to make your Order, the auras are so positive. Another thing I love about the place is even the owner himself (Scott), goes on til to take Orders and help Customer. I haven’t been there in a while (until June 2024). I was blown away on how EVERYONE, Owner and Managers included ALL WORK. They do the same duties as their employees. Amazing equality overall. I loved the Cultural Diversity, myself as a mixed race black man, walking into a place where everyone is valued and appreciated is amazing. I always thank them for their hard work because they’re TRULY putting in WORK. I usually Order the biggest burrito they have (it comes with two meats). I ALWAYS choose the Chicken and Beef (chopped into cubes). The ingredients are so flavourful from the prep table to the Customer. I have huge hands and holding the full burrito feels like a lot of value and quality. The wrapper is fantastic, there’s minimal to no dripping as you eat the burrito. They recommend you unwrap the burrito as you’re eating it (similar to a popsicle). This burrito normally takes me a considerable amount of time to eat. From the first bite to the last, this HUGE Burrito NEVER loses its flavour and the tortilla is thick and of such high quality (it doesn’t tear or rip easily). Today, there was a miscommunication about my Burrito. It was cut without my knowledge. The Burrito was cut in half, but this has only happened one in the nearly 10 times or more I’ve been there since June 2024. I called the store and Fiona (the Manager) actively listened to my feedback and made me feel like a valued customer. In the end, it all worked out and I’m about to eat my heavy and long in🌯. I left the store smiling and so excited to eat my heavy and full sized Burrito🥳💯🥹 Try their EL GORDO Burrito, it will definitely leave you satisfied with every bite. If you love Burritos, drop by, you’ll get a quality meal for a fair price). You will also leave feeling like you matter and that you spent your hard earned money, in the right place. The photos speak for themselves and will inspire you to try a Burrito from La Taquisa. Located in the plaza at Wilson Street (Unit 120 - 176 Wilson Street).

The restaurant was average, neither exceptional nor terrible. However, there were a few disappointing aspects. Firstly, the tacos were disappointingly dry and lacked essential toppings such as cheese, lettuce, or any type of sauce. This greatly affected the overall flavor and enjoyment of the dish. Additionally, the guacamole, which usually has a pleasant taste for me, was surprisingly unpleasant. It seemed either not fresh or made from avocado paste, which affected its quality. Similarly, the salsa sauce didn't resemble traditional salsa at all. It lacked the authentic flavors and texture I was expecting. Overall, I can only recommend this place if you're extremely hungry and have no other options available.

Tried their El Gordo with their Fish Al Pastor filling and Pico de Gallo. Taste is okay, the fish is prepped a bit on the salty side; I think if I were to order again, I'll try Beef Al Pastor filling instead. Service is a bit on the slow side to get my order; normally I would've walked out for the lack of acknowledgement but stuck around. Thanked them for the food and not a single word or even eye contact which was disappointing despite tipping. Jury's out whether I'll be a return customer after this experience.

La Taquisa’s owners Scott & Sindy will tell you: Everything is made from scratch - less the Valentina’s & soda. We only use local, antibiotic, hormone free meats. We proudly serve authentic family recipes.

But they’re forgetting, that their food is absolutely delicious and has remained the same price for years - they’re the cheapest in town, by several dollars per meal.

Over the years, and the hundreds of times I’ve dined there - I’ve only ever had one issue, which was a salsa missing from my order. Chucked it up to them being human, and me ordering an exorbitant amount of salsa. 😅

I’ve tried every meat and veggie option, and every salsa, the guac, and the refried beans. It’s all good.

Meat BEEF AL PASTOR 7/10 CHICKEN TINGA 8/10 CHICKEN MOLE 7.5/10 PORK CHORIZO 8/10 FISH AL PASTOR 9/10 BAJA STYLE SHRIMP 10/10 BAJA STYLE FISH 9/10 CEVICHE 9/10 - excellent as a burrito on a plate with a side of chips

Vegetarian (available vegan) RAJAS 7.5/10 VEGGIE MOLE 6.5/10 VEGGIE CHORIZO 7/10 CAULIFLOWER CHILORIO 10/10 - the citrus chili sauce is a stand out BEANS & CHEESE 8.5/10

Salsa PICO DE GALLO 10/10 MILD VERDE 8/10 MEDIUM RED 10/10 PICANTE-MEDIUM 7/10 SPICY VERDE 9/10 BRAVA 6/10 - partly cause I can’t handle the heat

Other GUACAMOLE 9/10 - a thin, smooth guac with great fresh flavour, creamy and earthy REFRIED BEANS 10/10

My go-to is a Baja Shrimp Burrito w/ pico, no sour cream, no guac; lime Jarritos; large chips with medium red salsa

*Burrito/El Gordo contains gluten

“Secret menu” Burrito-on-a-plate (gluten free) Each component is placed next to one another, you can self-assemble into tacos with the 3 included gluten-free corn tortillas or make a burrito bowl.

This isn’t exactly secret, but is available in their online menu although the in-store menus haven’t been updated, but can be ordered in-person.

They’re coming up on their 15th year having brick-and-mortar locations: Downtown in the spring through early fall has a large outdoor courtyard, the Fort Commons, that is shared with other businesses the border the space. Vic West has a row of bar height seating with stools, and a few tables outside.

Any nit-pic comments or drawbacks mentioned in other reviews are more than made up for with the value that they’re offering, which is why they’ve earned 5 stars despite not being...

Visited this gem in Victoria and ordered the family meal. The chicken tinga was delicious! All the sides and salsas (which they make from scratch) were equally good and very authentic. The quesadilla however, not the greatest and the fish tacos could use some seasoning. We especially loved the medium red and salsa verde! During our 4 day visit, we frequented this place a few times since the kids loved it. La Taquisa is definitely a local favorite and the lineups can get pretty long…so keep that in mind when ordering, even for pickup. Also note that except for a small bistro table outside and a small indoor countertop/barstools - there is not much room to dine-in at this location. The only complaint I had was that their pricing for salsa was inconsistent: 4oz salsa = $2.25 but when you order a large salsa, it’s more expensive at 16oz = $12 ($3/4oz.) Weird they priced it this way, but the manager was kind enough to give us another 4oz for the...
