Been wondering about this place for a while so decided to check them out. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food is basic & somewhat mid for food connoisseurs. The house sashimi is somewhat steep for the amount & type of cuts offered. Usually when I order the largest platter on the menu in restaurants, it takes me a while to go through and I'm left satiated. This I kinda went through in a flash and was still hungry afterwards, so not exactly the best value for something costing over $100.

So if you come, do so for the decent service. If you're coming to fill an empty stomach on a budget, this establishment may not provide the best value, at least in my opinion.

Edit: (Apr 6/24 @ 19:39)

Def nope. Had to lower overall rating from 4 ⭐ to 2 ⭐ & food rating to lowest because after midnight, my stomach was not sitting well with the food at all; I thought it was strange that the mackerel tasted a bit "sweet" & more cooked than raw. Made 4 terrible bathroom trips within last 24 hours, 2 of them being overnight. Service is the only merit from lowest rating; losing sleep over an expensive valueless dinner is too much of a liability to give this place a second...

I've had better Japanese food in Victoria. The prawn tempura had little flavour. I've had better at the food fair in a mall. The steak sauce is a different version than what is served in most Japanese restaurants in town. I was warned that instead of being salty, it was sweet. Well, one taste and I spit it out. There is an extra charge for the steak sauce. The pork Katsu with Katsu sauce was okay and so was the salad. The mauve rice tastes like steamed rice so that was fine. There was fried veggies under the pork. In my opinion, they weren't necessary. My final bill came to $29 and change. This might be a reasonable price. My husband as I usually order several appetizers and pork Katsu at the usual Japanese restaurant we go to. The bill comes to the same amount but has fed two people. Having said all that, the restaurant was full at 7 in the evening. It might be because it is one of two Japanese restaurants in this area of town or I'm way off base in my food opinions. The service was quick and excellent. The ambience is lovely. Plenty of free...

I came in for dinner with a friend and we both spent well over $100 each, the service was excellent and the food was great until I ordered a chicken teriyaki rice bowl to go…when I arrived at home and went to enjoy my take out order, I couldn’t believe how much sauce was in the container, my entire order was swimming in it, to the point that the rice was mush (I couldn’t even eat it, and I’m a person who loves saucey dishes). I took 2 bites and had to throw the entire thing out….when I called the restaurant a few days later to inquire about it, the gurl on the phone was absolutely no help….I figured being a regular there and spending the kind of money that me and my friends normally do there that maybe they would do something for me (like offer to remake it for me or even a small discount on a future order) but instead she hung up on me after saying “that’s just how we make it”. Very disappointing experience considering how the other night went when my friend and I...

Tried the Spicy Salmon Lunch combo today. I can't say I was impressed. The included tempura was undercooked. I could tasted the uncooked batter in the broccoli and the yam was nearly raw. The avocados in my california roll were starting to brown, making me question the freshness. As for the spicy salmon roll, well it was spicy. It was perhaps the spiciest salmon roll I've ever had, and that's about all, there was no flavour to the sauce, just heat. The miso soup seems a touch on the bland side as well and lacks the usual seaweed and green onion I'm used to seeing. All in all, based on this experience, I wouldn't return. I won't go so far as to say it's bad...but there was nothing that left me saying I want more from here. There are lots of great sushi places around, try another.

I can no longer stand by and allow "Spicy Tuna" rolls to just be tuna with a squirt of Sriracha on them. If I'm paying $9+ for a roll I'd like it to at least be mixed in. Victoria Sushi is NOT the only culprit and it's high time sushi lovers in Victoria call it out. We ordered on the weekend and got a roll with about 2 tablespoons of Sriracha on it. I like spice, but that's just gross, I want to taste the sushi still. I literally had to dab off the sriracha with a napkin before we ate. Mix it in so you can control your portions and regulate the spice please, Would be 3/5 but you did follow our instructions on the rolls so I've added back a star for customer service.
