On Saturday March 7, I went to that location to get drinks for myself and my wife, and food for us and our baby daughter. We were on our way to the ferry, but had allotted plenty of time. There was one person in front of me. After he ordered his drink, he and the slightly built red-haired boy behind the counter moved off to one side and had a conversation for five or ten minutes. The content of their conversation was not important, or time-sensitive, or related to his order. It was just idle chatter, while I stood there at the cash register waiting to order and my wife and baby daughter waited in the car.
Given prior shortfalls in service by the, frankly, snide and indifferent staff, I decided that I would afford Discovery Coffee one last chance.
Yesterday morning, I went into that location to get my daily large latte. After my order was taken, I went and waited by the side where the drinks are dispensed. After the first person who ordered after me received their drink, also made with an espresso (so not just a drip coffee), I made note of the order the cups were in - mine was fourth behind three other espresso drink orders that had been ordered after me. After another drink was made for someone after me in line, I asked the short brown-haired girl behind the counter about my drink. She replied âYaw, there was a mix up in the order of the drinksâ with a âf-youâ look on her face. I pointed out my cup and informed her that two drinks ordered after mine had been made, and the other two cups waiting were also ordered after mine. I also said to her ânot even a sorry?â. She replied, sarcastically, âoh gee, sawreee!â - again with the âf-youâ look. She then proceeded to make another drink ordered after mine, I can only guess out of spite, then made my drink. I had waited 8-10 minutes longer than I should have.
I contacted them by email, was told the manager of that location would email me. Never happened.
They have lost at least one...
Read moreWhen I went into this coffee shop, I was shocked that the only food options were donuts. With all of the possible healthier and preferable options for snacks with oneâs coffee, they decided to only offer the most unhealthy item possible. Donuts are an absolute carb/sugar-bomb, and it is this sort of junk food that has so many people overweight and obese, and as a result, a massive drain on our health care system and indeed the economy overall. You are complicit in this by CHOOSING to sell this crap. Please stop. Everyone would do well to watch the âFat Fictionâ documentary on YouTube.
Edit: While we tried this place several times, we won't be returning. The staff seem oblivious to their enormously loud banging & clashing of the cups & plates, and the [terrible] music is played WAY too loud. It's as though they are playing what they want, at the volume they want, forgetting all about the customer experience. Does anyone know how to run a...
Read moreIt's been a while since I had donuts and I wanted to try their vegan donuts. But after looking at the donut display, I realized that they would all contain too much sugar. Then we saw the little 'V' symbol marking some of the muffins as vegan. We ordered the Morning Glory and Blueberry Banana Tumeric. They were both delicious! The Morning Glory has carrots, raisins, pumpkin seeds, etc. and very addictive! I don't normally watch my latte being made, but since my friends decided to wreck my holiday by refusing to stop for coffee, I stood and waited for my drink in a paper cup :(. The barista was very exacting. For my single shot latte, after pulling my shot, he used two espresso shot glasses to mix the espresso and measured the single shot exactly so that the crema would be just right for the shot. Had we stayed in Victoria longer, I would have insisted that we visit this place again for the full...
