DANGER DANGER DANGER (See picture) YOU CAN GET SICK! Hygiene Issue and Unprofessional Staff Behavior Rating: 1 out of 5 âď¸
I wish I could have had a more positive experience to share about my recent visit to Garricks Head Pub, but unfortunately, it was anything but pleasant. My dining experience was severely disrupted by a critical hygiene issue, and the response from the staff, particularly Vennessa, only compounded my disappointment.
While trying to enjoy my meal, I was shocked to spot a mouse running around freely within the establishment. In an era when cleanliness should be paramount in any dining venue, witnessing such an incident was truly alarming. I proceeded to document the situation by taking pictures of the mouse as evidence of the hygiene issue.
What made the situation even more disconcerting was that Vennessa and her coworkers observed me taking the pictures but chose to question what the issue was, rather than addressing the problem immediately. This felt oddly dismissive, and their indifference towards a blatant health hazard struck me as a significant failure in ensuring customer satisfaction and safety.
When I expressed my concerns to Vennessa, who was in charge at the time, her response was nonchalant, stating that "mice are everywhere downtown." This casual attitude towards such a serious matter was unprofessional and entirely inappropriate. Furthermore, her reluctance to escalate the matter to management unless I took the effort to email was equally frustrating.
Urban environments can present pest control challenges, but such issues must be met with proactive measures and professionalism, not dismissal. It is the responsibility of any dining establishment, especially one like Garricks Head Pub, to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for its patrons. This incident, coupled with the staff's dismissive behavior, has significantly tarnished my perception of this pub.
While I hope my experience was an exception rather than the norm, I find it necessary to bring attention to this matter publicly. I trust that the management of Garricks Head Pub will take these concerns seriously and make necessary improvements to rectify the situation and prevent such occurrences in the future. Until then, I would recommend potential patrons consider these issues before deciding to dine at this establishment.

Manager responded â Hi N I'm sorry you feel the way that you do. As you were told by Vanessa, we have a current contract with pest control. We keep our pub and kitchen very very clean. We will continue to work on the downtown city rodent problems. You also told her you would wait to hear back from me the following morning before you started to plaster stuff on social media. Yet, I woke up to your first review before 7am. Then you continue to threaten my business with your future reviews. I have copied your email to the appropriate channels. Funny that your whole table had no issues and all sat and ate and finished their meals. I will copy and paste your email to any reviews you make about my establishments, then at least people will know the kind of guy making the reviews. Have a nice day.

Read moreI had a terrible experience at this bar.
Tonight was my birthday celebration. I arrived at 7pm and found a large table to fit everyone. My table's server, Tallis, was rude to us unabashedly throughout the night.
This began when she refused to bring my table water, and refused to serve us for a very long period of time because one of the people at my table ordered a single drink from the bar. When we informed her that we wanted to read the menu more, she stated in a very short, blank tone that "we either got her service or the bars service." This is all fair and understandable, but if you are going to work in a customer service position, please maintain good customer service skills. None of us were rude to her to begin with, so I'm not sure why she thought it was acceptable to treat us this way.
When we finally did order drinks from her, she practically slammed them down on the table. She proceeded to ignore select people at one end of the table, and was more attentive to the new people who showed up later. I'm assuming this was so she could get a better tip from them.
She refused to get my friend a tea, stating in a rude tone that "its Saturday night, and I'm not going to get you something that simple." My friend was very taken aback by this and felt embarrassed to be treated this way by Tallis. Throughout the night, she failed to take several peoples orders at the table, and frequently ignored us.
At the end of the night, one of my friends attempted to file a complaint to a manager. He had no drinks, was completely sober, and simply wanted to speak to someone who could resolve his displeasure with his experience. The hostess proceeded to refuse him any contact with a manager, called him a drunk, and had him thrown out. Is this how we treat people who simply try to exercise their freedom of speech? I am appalled with the service and treatment from Garricks head pub. Tonight was supposed to be a pleasant, fun experience for my birthday.
I used to really enjoy coming to this pub. I'm not sure if it is under new management, which could contribute to why it was so disappointing tonight. I can't say I'll be back anytime soon unless this is resolved. I will definitely not be recommending this place to anyone else either.
Summary: 1/5. Terrible service from Tallis the waitress, even worse administration, but decent drinks. Don't go here if you appreciate being treated like a...
Read moreThis place was so terrible it became comical. My partner said it used to be great during college, but it's gone completely downhill. It's the perfect candidate for Bar Rescue. One of our beers had gone moldy and tasted like ammonia. It was basically poison. They offer too many beers than they are able to manage. Then we ordered food and the pasta had literally the bare minimum of ingredients on it. It had the pasta (unsalted), some cheese sprinkled on top and then panko. There was literally no sauce or even salt and pepper. The other dish was over salted. Literally the saltiest dish we've ever had. We could not stop laughing at the vastness between the dishes. Then one of our friends had ordered a drink and never received it - which is for the best because after the ammonia drink didn't want anything anymore. If that wasn't bad enough, the chair I sat in was one rock away from collapsing. If a big guy sat there, the chair would be toast. Lastly, the bathroom is literally haunted. I went down there and within a second ran back up cause it's the perfect place for someone to assault you. The whole place feels like it's being run by a middle aged man who is doing everything wrong and is too insecure to make any change. Every town needs a dive bar, but this was not one worth...
