We found this sushi place on Google and decided to try it because of its decent rating. Unfortunately our visit to this place was a disappointment.
Customer Service: -The staff were friendly and welcoming -There wasn’t really that much customer service given because you have to go up yo the counter to pay + you grab your own drinks from the refrigerator (paid drinks) -Water or tea wasn’t really offered, we had to ask for tap/drinking water -The food took so long to arrive which was surprising given that there wasn’t a lot of customers in the restaurant at that time -Our food (Sushi) came with no side of Wasabi and Ginger.
Quality: -The portion of meat (chicken teriyaki) was small and the portions were even spaced out to cover more space on the platter -There was an excessive amount of teriyaki sauce that it was borderline soupy -The entire dish wasn’t warm/hot. At least the chicken should’ve been warm/hot. -The Miso soup was the only thing I enjoyed
Value: -It was expensive for the quality and amount of food
Lastly, it was a little much that the default option for a tip was 20+ % (I can’t remember if it was 20% or 22% tbh). I think it is excessive. I support tipping the restaurant and service industry but it needs to appropriate for the actual service provided. Like I mentioned, the customer service...
Read moreI ordered their Sushi & Sashimi Bento and Yellowtail Sushi Dishes. In summary, I was very disappointed. Did not meet expectations.
Positives: Our waitress was very nice. I was given an additional piece of Nigiri as they were not serving Sashimi seperately (which I found odd for a sushi restaurant). The decor/environment was nice.
Negatives: Overall, I did not feel it was authentic Japanese. The sushi did not seem fresh, or at the very least the preparation was off. Other ingredients such as the salad weren't fresh either. The tempura seemed over-fried and a bit oily. The sushi rice was a bit too moist. To make matters worse, my Bento tray was dirty with some white crust. The waitress apologized and provided complementary tea - stating it was likely tempura batter. My food was then re-plated onto a new tray, even though some of my food had already touched the dirty bits of the previous tray. Needless to say I lost my appetite quickly and didn't finish my food (a first for me).
I had high expectations considering their ratings and the competitive environment of Japanese cuisine in Victoria/Vancouver. Unfortunately, I must say this has been the worse sushi experience so far visiting Van...
Read moreI didn't bother eating the food yet before making this review. I only gave this place 3 stars for food because I ordered my usual favourites from any sushi restaurant. Anyhow, I was looking to just get some quick sushi and I ordered online from them, and they said it would take 50 minutes to finish. Seeing how that's a long time, I called, and they told me the food would be ready in 20-30 minutes. So i decided to give it a shot and wait. 50 minutes past, nothing. 1:30 hours passed, and that's when I got my food. Genuinely ridiculous. It's one thing if they told me the truth that it would take 50 minutes, and then it would make sense why i got my food so late because they were busy anyways. But they decided to tell me it would take 20-30 minutes. To compensate, they gave me free sushi. That probably took even more time to make. Genuinely so ironic.
EDIT. sashimi had bones in it. idk how they managed to mess up THIS bad. gas station sashimi is better than this. don't...
