Nubo Sushi Roll & Roll — Restaurant in Victoria

Nubo Sushi Roll & Roll has recently introduced a new menu, greatly expanding on the dishes they offer. I appreciate this shift to introduce more non-sushi based dishes such as bento boxes, appetizers, ramen and rice bowls. Perfect for cooler days you want something warm and comforting. Also opening at 11am instead of 12 is convenient for those of us working nearby to swing by on our lunch break -thank you! I got the Grilled Chashu Bento which was a very reasonable price of $18 given everything it comes with and Victoria sushi prices! It came with miso soup, the chasu veggie rice bowl, egg salad, gomae, 4 pieces of california roll, and chicken karage. I enjoyed my food, especially the roasted eggplant in the rice bowl - tasty and good value. I also appreciated that it came with gomae and an egg salad as in other bento boxes served elsewhere I never eat the salad. Karage is always tasty too. Unique choices. Would be nice if it came with the honey mustard sauce their sister store Nubo Kitchen serves. I will be back to try their other newer items and would order this again. The only negative thing I have to say is that the stools are quite uncomfortable to sit in. They are tiny and don't have much of a back. I will definitely sit at a table or order take out next time...

Bento Box is the best quality & value you can find for an "easy" meal. (Easy for me-not sure how easy for them- as the quality/variety/presentation of items is incomparable in Victoria as per my experience).

My friend got wonton soup & sashimi and spent a touch less..but it was a lighter meal/smaller portion. Apparently the dumplings in the wonton soup were amazing. Sashimi starter was 2 pieces but you're paying for quality with that one. Bento Box is the best quality & value you can find for an "easy" meal. I had the worst experience of my life at this restaurant. I arrived at 5:34 PM to pick up my order, and the staff told me it would be ready in 20 minutes. I waited patiently, then went to check back at 5:54 PM—only to be met with rude and unprofessional behavior. The woman who initially helped me snapped at me, saying I came too early and it was my mistake, even though I returned exactly after the time they gave me.

When the food was finally ready 10 minutes later, no one informed me. I was just left sitting there, completely ignored. And when I tried to express my concern, I was told there was no one available to speak with and I’d have to come back another time.

Absolutely unacceptable service. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who expects basic...
