CUSTOMER SERVICE IS UNACCEPTABLE AND RUDE. THE OWNER WAS BLATANTLY IGNORANT TOWARDS A PAYING CUSTOMER. I was trying to place a delivery order to the Uvic campus and the woman on the phone said that they do not deliver there, she said they only deliver in a limited area. I had previously checked and the campus is 5 kilometres away which is within the standard area limit for most delivery restaurants. So I asked her how many kilometres their limited area was and she tried to say goodbye and hang up, I asked again and she gave the same answer that they only deliver in a limited area and tried to say goodbye again. So I then told her that it does not specify the area limits on the website and they should in order to not have this problem and I again asked the sizeof their delivery area and why 5 kilometres was too far away, the woman was very snarky to me saying how I have to find some other place to order from and abruptly hung up the phone... I then called back and asked to speak to the manager and she said that they were not in, so I asked if I could speak to the person in charge. She stated she was the owner, and so I told her that I am very unsatisfied with your customer service, she then hung up on me again. this customer service is unacceptable, as well as the website should specify how large their delivery area is. Very Unsatisfied with this...

This place has possibly the best Chinese food in town - in fact, i find that it appeals to my tastes even more than the best Chinese food in vancouver, where there are countless choices. Sun wah staff are very friendly, courteous. This restaurant is often very busy. Lunch is my favourite time to go. Allow yourself to explore the menu and try some of the more adventurous dishes. Great consistency from visit to visit. The owners are very kind.

Ive read a number of the other reviews posted and was surprised that a few people complained. Ive never found the food "greasy." Just as with any cuisine, Take out at any restaurant is never as a wonderful as a sit down meal. If you want to truly experience the food, allow yourself to sit and have the food brought to your table hot, and fresh, the way it was prepared!

Try the fried chicken. The pan fried squid. Beef and Chinese greens. Garlic pea tips. Pork chop. Hong kong style crispy noodles. The menu is very large and there are countless gems to discover.

Ive eaten here over 100 times. There are many decent chinese retaurants on the west coast, but this small, comfortable, local restaurant...

My husband and I have tried to eat here three times. The first time we were told they weren't accepting individuals since they had a big party. No problem, we could understand that. The second time we managed to get a table, ordered and eventually received one of our dishes. The other dishes didn't show up until the first dish was cold, about 20-25 minutes later and only after we had finally flagged down a server who apologized. Within another 10 minutes we had the rest of our meal and we were given one dish free in apology. The third time there were two empty tables and a group just leaving but we were told that they had no room even though we pointed at the empty tables. The food had been ok but the service (or lack of it) has made us decide not to bother coming back here as they don't seem to want our business. Funny, we thought restaurants, especially in Victoria, were happy to have customers. I guess...

We ordered multiple items (chicken chow mein, salt n pepper squid, sweet and sour pork, ginger beef, chicken fried rice and vegetables). The chicken chow mein came with shaved, cheese-string like unflavoured chicken. The rest of the order was exceptionally bland and almost pale looking. Honestly, the worst Chinese food I’ve had. Definitely would not recommend to anyone! UPDATE: we called the restaurant to discuss the grievances with our order. The manager wanted us to bring in the food back in so the “chef could see”. It’s almost 9PM and our group have had 1 or 2 drinks and didn’t feel comfortable to drive. We offered to bring the food in Monday or Tuesday as we obviously won’t be eating the left overs. Apparently the chef or manager won’t be available again and told us to go through the online order app, which has also not been beneficial. We can’t comment on service or atmosphere as we ordered through Uber Eats.

I have been looking for a new favourite Chinese restaurant for two years since my favorite Chinese restaurant retired on Burnside. I live in a 17 floor high-rise downtown and a neighbour told me about Sun Wah and said the food was quite good. I ordered the combo one and substituted chicken balls instead of pork and had cashew gai ding and chow mein. Lots of cashews lots of fresh vegetables nicely cooked and the chow mein was tasty as well. I paid an extra $5- for additional sweet-and-sour sent to me although I did not receive it. I had a single serving size s & s cup as the sauce was not added to the chicken to keep it crispy (love that it was crispy & hot and not saturated with s & s upon it arriving) I didn't seem to have enough for the 2 large chicken balls. Really loved this place and it will be my go to Chinese restaurant from now on.
