CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice — Restaurant in Waterloo

I had a terrible experience at Coco on Wednesday, March 19, around 7:45 PM. I tried to order a lychee iced tea with lychee popping boba, something I’ve gotten from this location before. However, the male employee I spoke to had an attitude from the start. When I asked if I could add the topping, he immediately said no. I mentioned that I’ve ordered it before, but he still refused. I then pointed out that the Coco app allows me to add toppings, and he told me to place my order through the app instead.

Trying to be understanding, I did exactly that. I added the drink with the topping to my cart, and everything seemed fine—until my order was marked “unsuccessful.” When I went back to edit it, I noticed that he had removed the topping from the app. I saw the option to add it again, but every time I returned to my order, he had taken it off.

I don’t understand why he went out of his way to prevent me from getting a simple topping, even stopping mid-order to remove it. Having worked at Coco before, I know that employees can manage the topping section from the seller’s side. His behavior was unnecessary and unprofessional. I wasn’t rude at all, just asking a simple question, yet I was met with nothing but attitude.

Onto our order! We heard that the taro milk tea was the Waterloo store's most well-known flavor so we obviously had to give it a try! Well, the reviews were absolutely right - creamy milk tea with an added taro flavoring was truly one of the most delicious things we had all week. With the right amount of sugar that made it sweet but not overwhelming, each sip was a delight. It was only made better with our third drink - the passionfruit & mango slush. In my opinion, there is no better summer fruit than the mango. Combined with the tropical flavors of both, passionfruit and coconut, the drink managed to capture a beach vacation in a bubble tea cup.

Edit: They called me today to explain what really happened yesterday and apologized. It had nothing to do with the language - there was some miscommunication on their end. I decided to raise the stars I gave from 1 to 4 because they took customer feedback seriously. Also the QQ fresh taro milk tea was delicious.

Original: The people who work at this location today are not very professional nor respectful in response to phone calls. At first I didn't know there's this app I have to download to place the order, so I called the store. The menu I found online has both Chinese and English in it so I asked if I can place an order in Chinese on the phone. Then the person who picked up the phone laughed really hard with their colleagues instead of kindly ask me to speak English because they only serve in English until I realized that they were laughing because I spoke a different language.
