I AM SO INCREDIBLY IMPRESSED BY THIS CAFE! I was very worried coming here about the quality. Unpopular opinion but I strongly dislike D Spot. Love the service, the workers are really nice and accommodating, but the food is just not good. HOWEVER I am happy to report Eclipse is a wonderful spot! The service was amazing, the food was wonderful, and the ambiance of the place is great. As this place is just in its soft opening I'm going to leave an especially detailed review.
First: I saw this place on Instagram ad and was interested in the unique desserts offered, especially the pistachio/Turkish-inspired menu. I shared it with my family and we decided to come here last minute when we were planning a lunch out. When we came in the place was about a third full. The chairs and booths were comfortable, and we could sit down and order but you could also just to the counter to order takeout. Also, the stuff in the display had some extras like cheesecake that weren't on the menu, and there were also things on the physical menu they didn’t have displayed (e.g. beef pastry roll). So don’t think the display is all there is to order or vice versa.
We got 2 menemen, one pancake plate, and one beef pastry roll for four people. We also got a hot matcha latte and cold lotus latte(menemen came with tea). We got a pistachio dream and (I think) milky dream cup dessert.
To start:drinks were absolutely amazing! The lotus latte tasted like an actual latte—not unbearably sweet, with a nice underhint of coffee and a subtle note of lotus cookie. The whipped cream and cookie crumbs on top were the perfect touch. It also wasn’t overly cold—a huge pet peeve I have is when drinks are iced to the point where it’s more ice than drink and everything’s diluted after 10 minutes. This was cold, but not overly so. Similarly, the matcha was excellent. The matcha taste was very strong. It wasn’t overly sweetened, in fact I almost wanted to add a sugar packet! This is a good thing, because a lot of matcha lattes dilute the matcha taste so it’s more milk than matcha.
Onto the main meal: wonderful. The pancakes: soft and fluffy, the fruit was fresh and juicy, the chocolate sauce actually tasted like chocolate, not a chemically mix. The menemen: this is what I really wanted to try. It was excellent, came out hot, with a large side of soft baguette bread that paired perfectly. The menemen is like a cooked mix of eggs, tomato, peppers and spices (not a spicy dish at all, just great flavour) that you can dip the bread in or eat with a spoon. A fairly simple dish but well made and fresh, which made it memorable. The beef pastry: my family were huge fans. It was served warm, fresh, and was perfectly flaky. I liked it too, but preferred the plain bread paired with the menemen.
Dessert: exceptional. I’m not sure everyone will realize how unusual it is that the dessert here is of such good quality. Nuts in general can be expensive. Pistachios especially, which is part of why Dubai chocolate is such a pricey treat. Nut-based desserts are rich, so the flavors and textures have to be carefully balanced. The pistachio dream had a pistachio-flavored light, spongy cake base, topped with pistachio and vanilla whipped cream and pistachio crumbs. It was really well paired and everyone loved it. I’m not sure what the second dessert was called, but it was in a cup and was a mix of Eclipse cream (seems cooked buttercream, which I appreciated as it’s more common outside North America), strawberries, banana, and crepe crumbs. Also excellent.
Other notes: I loved the presentation, especially the customized boards they brought the food out on. The owner took our order and was so nice and enthusiastic! I really hope this place can succeed. I love supporting local businesses and hope they get enough customers to keep up the quality of the ingredients. Maybe more social media, fliers near the campuses, students would love this place. It’s a little out of the way so maybe they can also catch people coming from Conestoga Mall. To top it all off, they even...
Read moreI visited Eclipse cafe for the first time along with my friend today. Having wanting to have good coffee in an good ambience was what we were looking for. The cafe is very new, recently opened in Jun/Jul of 2025 it seems. It has a very nice ambience, nice seating - soft comfy chairs, nice sofas to the wall side. The washrooms are very clean. Ambience is great.
We ordered Capuccino and Turkish coffee. The capuccino was a bit cool maybe because of the cold milk added after the fact. We had to mix the sugar and that made it even colder. I wish they ask if we want with sugar or no, so the sugar is mixed earlier and we can have a hot cappucino. The turkish coffee is good. the cup size is small (like arabic or middle eastern coffee sizes). However there is a residue at the end and not sure if that is how it is supposed to be.
The service is great. I wish they also give one or two paper napkins when they serve.
Later I ordered a regular coffee and it was good and the aftertaste has a natural sweetness to it and no smell afterwards unlike mass produced coffee's. FYI - the price for coffee, capuccino etc was reasonable given this is a premium joint. Not overly pricey.
All in all a good experience, somethings can be better and I think it will get refined over time. I wish they stocked regular bagels also. Only after I entered inside i realized it was a turkish eatery and not a premium coffee shop with all the regular stuff. The only bagel available is turkish bagel. It was good, not great but good. I wish they stocked nice premium bagels and serve toasted, with butter or cream cheese to go...
Read moreI usually don’t write reviews but….. OMG!!!!!!!
This place literally got my heart. I tried it for the first time and I opted for delivery. And as you can see in the image the eclipse roll was packed so neatly that when it reached to my place it was the same as they serve in the cafe. I have never seen or experienced a desert cafe packing done this neatly.
Secondly, there was a generous amount of filling, even when you get delivery! I have seen a lot of cafes not taking delivery orders seriously.
And lastly, the taste was top notch, it was a dessert but not too sweet that hurt your throat after consuming few bites. Even I felt the quality of the ingredients used were premium.
Also not to mention, this was the fastest uber delivery I had ever received!!
Heaven in each bite!!!
I hope they keep this service intact even in the future. Definitely visiting this cafe...
