We learned of this new vegan fast food restaurant and were anxious to try it.
Uptown Waterloo usually has plenty of free 2 hour parking but today, Friday at 2:30pm, it was hard to find available spots.
Odd Burger's listed address is part of Waterloo Town Square which is 75 King Street South however, the actual store Front is located on Willis Street.
The restaurant is quite small; the pickup counter is to the immediate right and two ordering kiosks a few steps away. There are three small dining tables located inside the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and well-lit. Staff is very friendly and helpful as it was obvious to them it was our first visit. All orders must be placed via the kiosks, which are very user-friendly and well laid out. The menu items have detailed descriptions and easy option buttons to help you customize your food just the way you like it. Payment must be made at the kiosk via credit card or debit card; I don't know if cash is accepted. Our food came quickly approximately 7 minutes.
Fries: thick cut, well seasoned and crispy. A good portion size and tasty.
Onion Rings: made from red onions, light, crispy batter that is not greasy. Great tasting onion rings.
Gyro Wrap: tasty sauce but I found the gyro meat to be too salty. The meat had a nice firm texture. I did find the wrap to be on the smaller side of the typical gyro wrap.
Buffalo ChickUn Burger: this was a great little ChickUn burger. The spice from the sauce was just right and a good size. The ChickUn seitan has a great texture that is very satisfying.
Preposterous Burger: this was a very tasty burger. The patty is generous and thick and is made in house, as is everything on their menu. They add beet juice to the burger which really makes it look like meat. Thick patty has a small bun which is great as the burger is the star instead of the bun. The toppings are generous and everything tasted great together.
We are generally health conscious, vegan eaters and ingredients and where they come from is important to us. The seitan they make for the patties is very similar to the seitan we make at home. We feel good about the quality of the food, aside from things being deep fried.
The listed prices are fair value for a fast food vegan restaurant and compare to many other fast food restaurants. $7.99 for a good sized burger is a comparable price.
Based on our experience we would definitely recommend Odd Burger and we will definitely be returning.

Read moreThis is my favourite place to go to for quick vegan alternatives to fast food I loved prior to changing my diet. They have so many options to choose from. Nearly all items have been a reorder for me and super tasty. I've taken non-vegan family members here and they said they found it as enjoyable as their traditional meat & dairy options. Everything here is 100% vegan friendly so if you're vegetarian/vegan/plant-based you can order anything without worry. Many items have a gluten-free option (though gluten is used within the restaurant, so if you are allergic keep that in mind). There are lettuce leaf wraps for those wanting to choose a healthier option as well, though the menu is heavily geared more towards comfort replicas of fast food from other well-known chains. The menu items are about $1-2 more if you are making customizations for gluten-free substitutions or wanting to have add-ons. In general prices are more than you'd pay at a cheap fast food restaurant, but the food is far more filling and the ingredients feel higher quality, so the cost feels reasonable to me. The prices are within what I've paid at other vegan restaurants, so if you're familiar with those costs this won't be a surprise to your wallet at all. If you're also trying to support local with your purchases, Odd Burger is a Canadian chain, which many fast food restaurants here aren't. I recommend this place to everyone and anyone, especially those interested in seeing if plant based alternatives are something they'd like to try. As someone who's been vegan for 5 years now, Odd Burger is a testament that food made with plants can be equally as flavourful and enjoyable. P.S. If Odd Burger sees this - would love if you guys added a vegan mac & cheeze dish/side. Also maybe see if vegan cheeze curds could be used for the poutine at some point, as I've seen these starting to become more available in Ontario now. Would pay extra for the option of curds over shreds. 👀 Consider adding an option for kids sized meals in the...
Read moreEver thought a burger made entirely of plants could make you question your loyalty to meat? Me neither - until I tried Odd Burger (75 King Street South, Unit 60, Waterloo, ON, N2J 1P2)! An international fast food joint with newly opened locations in various parts of Ontario, this eatery serves a delicious range of burgers and sides that are entirely plant-based, making them suitable for various dietary restrictions! The last time I went there, I sampled their breakfast menu. The BacUn Maple Crunch was a delightful vegan breakfast sandwich that packed a punch. Featuring house-made seitan bacUn, crafted from oats, chickpeas, and wheat gluten, marinated in a special smoky blend and layered with non-GMO tofu 'egg' seasoned with black salt, crispy golden hash brown, dairy-free cheddar cheese, and a toasted English muffin, all topped with a drizzle of sweet maple syrup, it was a delicious and satisfying way to start the day! The side of tater tot poutine made it even better! Crispy potato tots smothered in a rich plant-based gravy and topped with melty dairy-free mozzarella cheeze shreds created an indulgent and comforting treat. Washed down with a refreshing can of Coca-Cola, the meal was truly satisfying and utterly delectable! Should you find yourself craving a vegan feast or simply a good burger in Waterloo, Toronto, London, Hamilton, Oakville, Oshawa, Vaughan, Windsor, Brampton, or Ottawa (that's just the Ontario locations!), Odd Burger is the place to be. With a delicious menu featuring the healthiest fake meat and the freshest toppings, you are sure to find something to your liking here. Highly recommended!
