My husband and I arrived around 7 pm on a Friday night and were able to get one of the last tables (the restaurant is fairly small). We were seated across from the gas fireplace which was really nice as our table was also beside the window, the warmth from the fireplace offset the cool feeling on the other side.
The waitress arrived promptly and took our drink order, red wine for both of us. Once she returned with our drinks she took our dinner order.
I ordered the Mango salad and the Thai Tangy Tiger Shrimp Soup. My husband ordered Stir fried Coconut Curry Chicken - the menu says it came with a side of rice, but I would call it a huge mound.
The mango salad was large enough for both of us to share, which was good because there was no way I would have been able to eat it all myself. The soup was okay, I found there was more broth than anything and only 3 or 4 shrimp. My husband enjoyed his coconut curry chicken, but didn't think it was anything special. Overall, the mango salad saved the meal.
I have been here numerous times for lunch and always had one of their specials, turns out those are the best part of their menu. On this night, I decided to take my husband for his first time and neither of us really enjoyed it for the price. Two meals, two glasses of wine and tip was $65. I could have easily made these items at home and I think that's what I will...
Read moreWe ate here on the weekend. Although the appetizers and atmosphere were really nice. The service and quality took a quick shift when entrees were served. Prior to serving us our entrees, the server asked if we were ready for them and we said yes. 30 seconds later, the food was served and it was cold. All 3 noodle dishes was cold. When notifying one of the serves, he said he would ask the kitchen to reheat it. My husband ensured that the reheating won’t be in the microwave and the server agreed it can be done in the wok. 2 mins later, all three dishes are reserved and this time the outside noodles are still cold and only the middle part is warm, clearly showcasing that the food was microwaved. After being asked how it was, we were still honest about it being par and cold and no further solution was offered. Before pandemic, I used to visit this place often. Now we got served a $17 noodle dish with barely any vegetables and it was cold. Very...
Read moreThe atmosphere was strange. There was no music or anything. At times the silence was so deafening that I had to double check the place wasn't closed.
The pad thai was good, but there was no noticeable sauce in the phad woon sen. They call it oxygen noodle, which is fitting because it was no more flavourful than oxygen.
Our waiter initially recommended us a Singha, a Thai beer, which was appreciated - it was good. However, after dropping off our food, he completely disappeared. We didn't see him again until we had to flag down another waiter to get our bill, who then brought him back. When we brought up the lack of sauce in the phad woon sen his response was "you should have told me." But how could we have when he was MIA the entire night? And it wasn't even busy.
If you come here, be prepared to play an active role in chasing your waiters down, whether it be to pay your bill or to give feedback...
