barBURRITO — Restaurant in West Jasper Place

I think I'm done being a customer here. I used to come in about once a week and it was fantastic. The food was good, the value was good, and the staff was nice.

My last 3 visits have gone as follows:

1. Stood at the counter for 10 minutes while 2 people work on orders coming in from the app without any acknowledgment that i was even there. once it hit 15 minutes i just left and went somewhere else.

2. Decided to give it another shot because it had been good in the past. Food was just ok, price has gone up. OK - that's inflation, can't blame them for that. Staff acted like my presence was an inconvenience. The lady at the cash acted like i had insulted her entire family when i asked for a napkin with my to go order.

3. Today I went in and waited about 10 minutes while there single employee made a large order for a family. No biggie, they must have had someone call in sick - can't imagine one person is typical for lunch time. When she finally got to me she used half scoops for everything. If i had wanted the smallest size burrito i would have ordered the smallest size. When i asked her if it was normal to use half scoops she assured me that was the normal amount. Now let's put aside the fact that it would make sense to just have smaller scoops if that were the case - I had been to this place dozens of times over the past 2 years. It seems odd that they would start using 2 half scoops when it used to be 2 full scoops. why not just use 1 single then?

When i actually ate the oddly underweight burrito none of the ingredients tasted as fresh as they typically do. It was.. approaching just OK, but not quite good.

Lesson learned. Will find a new space to sate my burrito cravings. Always a shame when something good...

I’m a regular visitor to this location once a week. I had a bad experience with my order today and in the past specifically when the new employees are working. My regular burrito feels like a small even though I’m asking to add more. They don’t pay attention to the rice and cheese stuck in the scoop and I end up getting way less.

Today I ordered, Reg. BURRITO, a Bowl, and Tacos.

Reg. Bean Burrito - Not enough rice and beans, it was a small burrito really. Bean Bowl - Usually I get the loaded bowl, the bowl was literally empty as you can see in the picture. The guy added more lettuce on top to make it look better but it still didn’t do the justice. Tacos - Honestly, It tasted like I was having a lettuce and taco shell.

I still felt hungry after eating tacos...

I had heard that they were now making gluten-free burritos at BarBURRITO - so I decided to stop in and try one. There’s only one size and it’s “regular” (see picture with desktop mouse for scale). It should be more than enough to satisfy most people. You fill the burrito same way you would a regular burrito. I like my food spicy and I didn’t really find the spicy chicken or the buffalo sauce that was added to be all that spicy. Next time, I will probably ask for the ghost pepper sauce and I recommend that you do too if you like things spicy. I found that the best way to eat it is to actually keep it in the foil and just peel it away as you are eating (see attached picture).
