I am not much for making reviews. I am more-so a silent objector; If I don't like a place, I just won't go and let my wallet do the talking. However, these great folks have proven time and time again that they are worth it. If you're looking for a highly detailed review (possibly rambling) then look no further.
I have on-and-off been eating from Cherry Pit since 2009 when I had my first breakfast from them. I was not disappointed with the quality or prices at all for the time.
ItWasExquisite.
Fast forward a decade and then some; We have stay-at-home orders, quarantines, etc. Places like Skip, DoorDash, UberEats and whatnot have taken on more and more partners. Eating fast food every morning had me feeling like a salted snail embedded in molasses. However, with no working vehicle, I had few options.
Then these folks pop up on Skip. March 11th, 2021, I made my first order for delivery; French Toast feast with scrambled eggs.
Now, let me say right off the bat, I like breakfast food, but am not a fan of sweets. I prefer savory, and I am quite the sucker for French toast. Diner style Homemade, any day of the week, so I wanted to see how these folks stacked up.
Well, in the words of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman from Stanley Kubricks film 'Full Metal Jacket'; "Out-f*ucking-standing".
Every morning, like clockwork, I put an order in on Skip for some variation of breakfast. My go-to is the Corned beef hash, with the toast substituted for French toast. Hell, every breakfast that comes with sides that can be substituted, I'll get the French Toast.
The Corned beef was flavourful and just the right proportion. THe hashbrowns are a great blend of crispy, tender and lightly salted. The green onions really add a nice pop, too. The eggs are cooked to a soft, but not rubbery or mushy consistency. Just right.
And the French toast, oh lordy. I am just absolutely in love. Savory in all the right ways with just a hint of sweetness.
I haven't gotten a single order wrong, tasting off or unpleasant. If anything, I've been treated to the odd occasion where I get a third piece of French toast. Be it staff error, a secret admirer or a bonus thrown in; I was not unhappy at all.
My only "complaint" is that, at least on Skip, their prices do not seem to reflect the prices on their in-house menus (at least, by the most recent menu photo I have found online). This may be due to Skip taking a portion of the cost and not exclusively because of the restaurant.
So, with that, even with the prices about 20% higher on Skip, it has been worth it for nearly every morning since I found "Westbanks best kept Secret" to be absolutely worth it.
If you're on the fence, just know that I don't like to write reviews very often, let alone this long-winded.
Get something off their menu. You won't be...

I’d like to thank the Owner for their prompt response to our unfortunate complaint and sincerely appreciate the offer to make good.
I think it’s worth keeping my post up if only to highlight their professionalism and sincerity.
We love the Cherry Pit. Poop happens and we will be back soon!

We love the Cherry Pit, but unfortunately today was a gong show. Not ready to eat indoors yet, we ordered breakfast for pick up through their site.
Paid online with tip and got no response from the site saying when the food would be ready to be picked up. Tried calling for twenty minutes but continually got a busy signal.
I drove down to see where the food was at and if they had my order as I had already paid $45.
Was informed they didn’t see my order and would put it in right away. I appreciate they’re slammed today and sh*t happens.
After getting my order over an hour later, I go home to find no hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict. Tried calling but their phone line seems to be permanently on busy.
Guess we’re eating dry...
Read moreThese are the gems that need to survive. When faced with the all too familiar chain breakfast joints that are taking over, the old school diner feel at the Cherry Pit is so so welcome. Walk in, the host says “sit where you want”. You can tell that nothing here has changed for many years, and that’s exactly how you want it. It’s a place you feel comfortable right away, and you know the coffee will be strong and food is going to be tasty. The seats and tables are worn, the bathrooms never updated… and that’s ideal. It all works. Service could not have been faster, and food was exactly what you want… greasy spoon style breakfast of whatever you want. My wife had a waffle and eggs, I had the country omelette with hashbrowns and toast. These are the seldom spots that I hope will continue on for many years, never changing. So next time you are considering breakfast here in Westbank, forgo the slick and shiny, and head to...
