Asur Kitchen Review
Walking into Asur Kitchen felt like stepping into a Pinterest board for modern vibes—sleek, open layout, clean lines, and amazing ventilation. The open space didn’t just look good; it worked. Bonus points: I didn’t walk out smelling like a kebab skewer, which is a win in my book.
Food Breakdown We went in on the mains—beef, lamb, and chicken combos galore. Think Soltani Lamb Kebab, Vaziri Kebab, and Loghmeh Koobideh.
Lamb & Beef: Juicy and tender, cooked to perfection with no dry, sad ends.
Chicken: This was next-level. You can tell they didn’t skimp on saffron because you can see it and taste it. Hands down some of the juiciest chicken I’ve had, ever.
The rice was perfectly cooked. Moist yet fluffy, topped with actual saffron and not some food dye.
For apps, we tried:
Mast-o-Moosir: Smooth, creamy, not overly oniony. It hit that perfect balance.
Kashk-e-Bademjoon: Chef’s kiss. Easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Caramelized onions, fried garlic and mint, walnuts, whey—everything just worked. The Asur Special bread that came with it? Game-changer. Light, fresh, and didn’t fill me up before the mains.
But not everything was perfect. No Shirazi Salad? In a Persian restaurant? Kinda wild. And dessert was a bit of a letdown—Baghlava was there, but tiramisu and brownies, really? Where’s the traditional Iranian ice cream or maybe a modern take on tiramisu/ brownies with authentic Persian twist? Missed opportunity.
Ambiance & Vibes While the modern decor and open space were on point, the music? Not so much. They played spa-style tunes, which, while relaxing, didn’t match the energy of the food. Heavy, flavorful meals need something more upbeat and authentic—but still chill, not loud. A better playlist could’ve taken the vibe to the next level.
Other Details Pricing was solid for what you’re getting—good portions, premium quality, and great presentation. Everything was well-balanced between the rice, veggies, and meats. Staff? Super friendly and chill. They’re open to feedback, and service was speedy.
Final verdict: 9.5/10. Easily one of the top Persian spots in the Vancouver area. I'm already looking forward to coming back and exploring the rest of the menu because this place clearly has so much...
Read moreAfter 20+ years, I finally found a Persian restaurant where everything was perfect: the food, the service and the ambient. We were greeted by a gentlemen who made us welcome from the first moment we walked through the door. Got a perfect table and within seconds, we were greeted again by our server. He was extremely polite and curious. Menu was online and it was not very hard to decide given the perfect description. When the food arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. The portion was huge, because it is a Persian restaurant after all yet it was perfectly balanced. The right amount of rice with the perfect size kebabs and good combo of savory and sour to balance the fat and carb. The plates were nice and provided a great contrast. First bite of the Kebab and I immediately felt that I am back in the Grand Bazar having lunch at the legendary Nayeb. The koobideh was perfect. And frankly, if a chef can pull off a good koobideh you know that the rest of the foods will be amazing. The Barg Kebab was tender and juicy and the chicken was perfectly marinated and I could taste the real saffron. I think you can the best complement I could give to the chef here in the pictures!! I did not left even a single grain of rice in my plate. It was extremely delicious and even though I ate a huge portion, I did not feel that I am about to explode :) The only thing that was a surprise for me was the fact that it was the first time I have been here even though I live in West Van! Now that I find my favorite spot, I most certainly frequent this restaurant and I highly recommend it to all friends and family. If you want to bring a friend who is not familiar with Persian cuisine, this place would be the ideal location. The music is soft and gentle and you can easily hold a conversation without the need to shout every other word. We didn’t order alcoholic beverages this time but I believe they serve alcohol here as well. 10 out of 10! I am really happy that I have this place so...
Read moreTonight, my friend and I decided to try the restaurant for dinner. When we entered the restaurant, we noticed that only two tables were occupied by two couples and the young man who greeted us showed us a table for two in the middle of the restaurant. I asked for a table by the window, which 4 tables, with setting for 4 people were available, but the young man indicated that our option was only a table for two and he can not give us a 4-person's table. We sat at the table that he showed us, which was very small for even two people to order food, drink and appetizers. While we were looking at the menu, a young girl, which we found out that her name was Elaheh, served us water and when I asked if we can move to a table next to a window, graciously agreed and moved us to a table that we initially wanted. Elaheh provided us with a very good service and she was very courteous! We ordered a Shishlik Kabab, which was good, and Asur Special Chenjeh Kabab, which was tastier! After dinner we ordered tea, but instead of serving Persian tea, they served us regular Lipton tea bags in a small tea pot, and two small cup, with a cinnamon stick, a couple of cardamom seeds and only one Persian crystalized sugar stick (Nabaat) for two people instead of two! Overall, the ambiance, service, and food were good! A suggestion to the restaurant management is to have Elaheh greet customers and guide them to appropriate table, providing a pleasant customer experience, and of course, a satisfied customer is always a...
