I would like to start this review by stating that this is my first ever review, never left a review before; neither positive or negative - I like to just go about my business and if I don't like the food/service/products then I just won't go to said place again. HOWEVER, this was the most disgusting thing I probably have ever been served as edible food. I'm writing this at 4am shortly after arriving home and not even waiting until the morning as I'm straight up pissed.
On first glance the prices seem reasonable and the restaurant setting is fine. Food took about 20 minutes to come, which is a relatively reasonable wait time. A friend of mine had to wait another 10 minutes, having to watch us eat when all he ordered was a poutine. The hollandaise sauce that was on the poutine looked like raw unbeaten eggs, it was horrid to look at and made me feel queasy just looking at it.
I myself ordered the country fried "steak" which came with two sides and dinner bread. The bread was good and the fries were acceptable. The hashbrowns were grated like cheese - never seen hashbrowns present like this before ever; they were burnt brown verging on black.
Now for the main item of the dish, this "steak" was the worst thing I've ever eaten in my life. I only ate in the morning (around 11am), did an intensive late night workout at the local Goodlife and went for dinner around 1am. I opted to go hungry as opposed to eat the second "steak" as I decided I wanted to go home and cut it open to see what exactly I was given to eat. My stomach feels very upset, did my best not to throw up in my car and wait until I get home. The "steak" tastes like chicken nuggets of the poorest quality fixed with beef fat, which were then breaded and deep fried.
The service was garbage also. Getting a refill is next to impossible, had to loudly request it when she came even somewhat close to the table. Additionally, I paid cash and was shortchanged a quarter which is whatever but I found out as I left the restaurant that a friend who also paid cash was shortchanged. The waitress also spilled water on another of my friends while we were eating the trash that we were served.
I went here on a recommendation from a friend and will never eat at a Denny's again - even if paid. I was given and paid for food that I should've been...
Read moreFood poisoning. Years ago this location was ok. Now, awful. I am guessing that the hollandaise sauce contained not 1 hollandaise ingredient. They drowned the eggs benedict plate with this sauce that tasted like it came from an old can, and made of flower or corn starch and water with yellow food colouring. After scraping it off, not wanting to complain and return the dish, I thought the odd taste of the first muffin was from the sauce, but my husband also noticed his food tasted off and he ordered the grand slam, no hollandaise sauce. The first bite of the second muffin was positively grotesque and unquestionably bad. It tasted of oil that was reused to cook a thousand other meals off a very dirty grill. Perhaps the ham was heated on the grill, or the English muffin toasted on the grill, but it was horrible and definitely the last bite. Unfortunately, two days of severe food poisoning, including fever, blurred vision, awful back pain, etc. To make things worse, they wanted us to pay for 50% of the bill, that's all the waiter could authorize, and the manager wasn't there and we should phone the next day. After speaking with the waiter again, magically the manager was actually standing there the whole time, and she agreed to cancel the bill. But no effort to compensate in some way. Obviously I should have returned the dish immediately when I thought something wasn't right and not accepted it from the start of the hollandaise sauce issue. Trying not to be a problematic customer didn't work out very well. Lesson learned. However they know full well what they are doing wrong in that kitchen. No wonder the restaurant was so empty. That should have been...
Read moreBy far the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. The 2 servers that worked on Saturday March 16 2025 at 3am were the most impolite, unprofessional servers I’ve ever come across. Our server (women) forgot half of our order, we asked for water and didn’t get it until the end of the meal. When we were seated, she didn’t even ask if we needed beverages or if we were ready to order. We had to waive her down to get service. We asked our server if there was a manager and she let us know that they didn’t have one on staff at the moment. We asked for a phone number or contact and she told us to come in during the day. The male server, granted he wasn’t our server, was also very rude and dismissive. We were going to ask a question and he basically waived us off as if we were not there. He could have stopped, acknowledged us and let us know he would be back. I approached him to let him know it was disrespectful to waive us off, and he was still dismissive. I understand we are at a Denny’s and we shouldn’t expect anything spectacular, but you chose a job that is in hospitality. At least do the bare minimum and acknowledge the customers. I also caught our server putting together our food behind the counter with her bare hands, no gloves after she just finished cashing out someone. Did not see her clean her hands. We were a table of 7 and didn’t even get a minute of respect or courtesy. I hope this place closes down, and those two shouldn’t get a job in hospitality ever. If the management or the owner(or Denny’s corporate) want to retain customers they should get rid of these 2 server, because they will ruin that restaurant and the Denny’s...
