I went on opening day with my family and ordered the beef and chicken shawarmas to try. The chicken one was good but the beef was full of fat and gristle. Anyway, I decided to give them another try. On my 2nd visit, the white girl working the cash told me the drinks don't come with the Daily Special. I pointed her to the board above her head where it said soft drinks were included. Owner needs to train his staff better because I was about to get charged for a drink. One other interesting observation I have made is that they don't allow the chicken on the spit to char before they slice it, throw it on the griddle and transfer it to the hot plate. That's not what a shawarma is! You have to let it char on the spit to a golden brown colour, then slice it directly on to the sandwich. Anyway, I left with the Daily Special and my "free" drink. The food was good and so I returned again next week. This was my third and last visit. I had only ordered a chicken shawarma this time. Majority of their menu items are overpriced and I only wanted something to fill me up until I could get home. I watched the owner make my shawarma and place it inside the sandwich grill press. Well, along came the cashier and he touched my shawarma to flip it to the other side with the SAME GLOVES he had been handling the money and cash register with! I waved the owner down and told him I was not going to take that shawarma the cashier just touched with contaminated gloves so he offered to make me a new one. Makes me shudder to think what if I hadn't seen it. I watched the owner wrap up the contaminated shawarma instead of throwing it out...perhaps some poor soul ordering takeout ended up with it.
Also, what's this scam with the saj bread? You get a plain dry pita bread for size small but if you want saj bread you gotta pay extra for a medium or large? Why aren't you offering saj bread in size small for those who can't eat pita bread instead of gouging them to pay extra?
I also find it creepy that the owner and some of his staff sit at the corner table near the entrance with their laptop computer watching people come in and go. They gawk at you and if you're a female visiting alone, I can imagine this making them extremely uncomfortable.
Sadly I don't think we will be back or recommend this place to anyone. We've given you three chances and it progressively gets worse each time. I don't see this place lasting very long in Whitby if they don't change the way they are...
Read moreWent in today as a regular and the lady with glasses who seems to be the manager was more than rude to me. I ordered my food first thing when i got there and then asked for a student discount. The lady was already talking in a rude tone to me but gave the discount. After i got my food i wanted to get a drink so I asked her if I could buy one. I have a bit of a lisp so i said it kinda odd but instead of her ignoring it she mocked me right in my face by repeating exactly what i said with my same lisp. She literally snapped at me right back and gave me a harsh look. I was surprised and embarrassed by her actions as she clearly has no respect for her customers. My friend also noticed and he was furious. To be honest i have been coming here for 2 years and she has always been like this. My mom had a incident similar to this about a year ago and nothing was done. When I was buying the drinks I refused the discount, I don’t need a discount from a restaurant who doesn’t respect the community of students that lives right next to them. After we started to leave i could hear her talking really loud and angry in a language i could not fully understand but I understood what was happening and what she was talking about. When we got home the food she gave us was half the portion of the actual dish which made me even more mad. I never meant any disrespect towards her if that’s what she thought was happening and I was trying to be kind the whole time I was there. I don’t understand why she was being rude. There’s another guy with glasses who works here and is really really nice and whenever he sees me he knows who I am and asks how I’m doing. He even knows my order and I’m really impressed and acknowledge the work he puts in. He also gets my order perfect every single time. I am extremely dissatisfied with my service and food today. I hope to see her be more respectful to her customers in the...

(LAST YEAR) When we came to tahinis, one of the ones in Pickering, it was definitely rush hour, food took a LONG TIME and was very dry, understandably though as the employees were probably under stress. (THIS TIME) When we came to tahinis, in Whitby, I can’t even begin to explain how good it was. We came in when they were basically empty besides online orders.
It took only 15 minutes or less for them to make THREE shawarmas!! (LARGE SIZE TOO)
The bread was AMAZING! Nice and crispy but not too crispy enough for everything to be falling out, just how I like it!
All of the foods in it were perfectly spread out, every bite was SOO DELICIOUS
We came from the US and if we convert the prices it came to be somewhere around 12 or 13 USD per shawarma!! If you’re also visiting from the US, I’m not sure about the Shawarma prices in your state but from where I am, One TINY shawarma would cost you 15 DOLLARS on average. We got the LARGE shawarma for cheaper, and I’m telling you when it’s large, IT IS LARGE. It’s probably the size of TWO shawarmas in length, and it’s not cheating out on the width either just for the length! This thing was not thin!
I’m the type of person who prefers home cooked food over restaurants and food from outside, especially when it comes to things like shawarmas, I am really picky. However when I tried this place, I was extremely pleasantly surprised! Their shawarmas are SOOOOOOOOOOOO good, you HAVE TO try it.
Overall, amazing prices, amazing taste. Hands down the best shawarma I’ve ever had.
Edit: Just got another shawarma from you guys cause...
