I have come here a few times since the beginning of the year.... every time Tom and his wife have been there, very kind and quick. Today I went in and there were two south asian men in the back and a european woman at the front. I asked where the owners were - she informed me they were under new management. I ordered a chicken club - and this is what I got. Not at all as described on the website (and I had this sandwich in the past!) No lettuce, and a burnt chicken skewer instead of a breast. I went back to the store and asked for a refund - i had already wasted my lunch hour waiting for the first sandwich so I couldn't wait for a new one - and the attitude the cook gave me was ASTONISHING. Told me I didn't know what I was talking about when I said i had been here in the last two months to get the same sandwich and this wasn't correct. He told me that they NEVER use chicken breast (even thoTom had made it like that in the past, not even 2 months ago). The only saving grace was the woman in the front with the black curly hair. She was so kind, understanding, gave me a refund and apologized for what happened. I told her that I didn't appreciate the cook yelling at me and she apologized for HIM too, which he never did. If not for her, this would be a full 1 star review, but she deserves all the recognition for how she handled it. But because of that cook, you're losing an often...
Read moreHad to update my review as the restaurant has changed ownership and unfortunately the quality and preparation of the food has dropped considerably. Not the same Tom's Grill anymore!
It does not get more local diner than Tom's Grill (Nick's) when you are looking for a restaurant in Whitby. I still need to find out the story behind the restaurant name but when I do expect an update here. The owners are wonderful people and are always happy to help accommodate any dietary need or food related questions.
The food is hearty and filling with very generous portions. Their greek potatoes taste delicious and have the right balance of lemon and herbs. Lunch portions are done right and worth the money paid for them. All other food items I have ordered from them have been good.
A welcoming restaurant that makes you feel like home with freshly prepared hearty food is hard to beat!
The only downside I see is the parking situation but don't let that stop you from checking out the restaurant. There is some road and Green P parking in and around the area.
I recommend you stop by for lunch or dinner and check out this food spot in Whitby. They also do greek food catering should you need to feed a...
Read moreI like to be a person that is fair, the Baklava was good, however, what I experienced was not great for as I walked in the store, I simply ordered Baklava, the young lady who took my order made me feel weird to the point that it brought a lot of attention to the workers as if I did something wrong, treating me as if I am some type of criminal, as a tall black man she indicated that I am not welcome there and I didn't do anything wrong, I simply made an order. I am a person that forgives, however, I won't be going back to the store the fact that I did not feel welcomed, she made me feel uncomfortable and I don't feel safe going back. Her character was out of line and her body language was manipulative. I am seeing too many Caucasian females doing stuff like that because of the entitlement that they have but her time will come. I am a nice and decent gentleman with integrity and I do not deserve to be treated this way, this is 2021 and we need to learn to show each other with respect especially in the times we are living in right now and also learn to evolve into a better person for humanity, accepting one another's differences. Again my money will go in another business where...
