Sunset Grill — Restaurant in Whitchurch-Stouffville

Officially the worst dining experience I've ever had in a restaurant in all my life. This location is destroying the franchise's reputation. I've worked in the food industry myself so I am quite lenient when it comes to service quality, but this was just utterly disrespectful. I've always loved sunset grill for its consistent quality but this location is a complete joke.

The food quality was atrocious, bacon burnt to a crisp, their 3 eggs scrambled looked like it was at most 1 1/2 eggs (not exaggerating) , and their "chocolate chip" pancakes was actually pre-cooked pancakes that had chocolate chips mashed on top burnt on the grill (didn't taste fresh at all, all the chocolate chips were falling off in clumps).

The cherry on top is the laughable customer service from the owners (husband and wife, I think). Not only did no one check on us even once, i had to pretty much beg to get a refill on my coffee. Not only that but they rushed us out the door when we've been sitting for less than 25 minutes (i checked my phone), because "there are people waiting" - we waited our turn fair and square too! The food itself was on the table for only 15 minutes... My girlfriend was actually still eating her pancake when the owner came up to us pretty much forced us to pay and leave.

Although I can understand that it is frustrating to run a restaurant given the current restrictions, it is completely unacceptable to treat customers this way. Went for a New Year’s Day breakfast at the Stouffville location (Longos plaza) and were extremely disappointed with the food, service and noisiness of this restaurant. I ordered a veggie omelette and there was absolutely zero taste to the eggs. There was no seasoning whatsoever, just watery eggs mixed in with undercooked red peppers, mushrooms and onions. (I even omitted the tomatoes) The server (I believe she is the owner) never came back to the table to check on us and only came to collect the plates and hand us our bill. When she asked if I wanted a take out box, as more than half the meal was still on my plate, I told her I didn’t enjoy the omelette, that it was bland and undercooked and I did not require a take out box. Her explanation for the bland tastes was, “we never season veggie omelettes because they are vegetarian”. There was no offer to remake my meal, nor did she even offer to remove the item from our bill, or discount the meal as most of it remained on my plate. Instead she said, “tell me you want the omelette seasoned next time you come in”. There won’t be a next time and I won’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a decent meal.

We also had to listen to the kitchen staff scrubbing the grills with a Brillo pad the entire time we sat at our table. It sounded as though he was trying to take the finish off the grill!

I would highly recommend you dine at the Fickle Pickle or even Starbucks, if you’re looking for a decent...

I was happy to have this establishment in town until I came here for brunch. I was there with my family and we were seated outside as we wanted to be. My 9-year-old asked for lemonade with her meal and was told by the server that they had none. Mind you, the reception that she gave us from the moment we walked in was not a pleasant one. She appeared visibly annoyed with us being there. We were also told that we were not allowed to switch sausage with bacon in one of our orders. I have been to other sunset locations and this has never been a problem with anything we have ever ordered. We then had a change with our server Midway through and she was far nicer. I asked her if they have any lemonade and she said "We sure do". We also found hair in our food twice in this one seating. When we received our bill as well there were other items on there that we had never ordered approximately four. We spoke to the manager although he was nice he didn't do much to make the situation better. He didn't provide much of a solution or compensation for the poor experience. Now I'm never one to tie in issues of race, however, I could not help but notice the server was far more conversational with the white patrons. I hope others have not had a...
