I’ll give them a 3.5 on food; and a 1 on manners and “racism light”. I went with my wife and son last night for a relaxing evening )or so I hoped) after a hard week. We took a patio table. The body language of the young lady who served us was odd right from the start. She was all smiles and laughs for the other tables, but would become not quite warm at ours. When my wife ordered a Cabernet Sauvignon, she thought it was her duty to remind my wife “you DO know it’s red wine, right”? Yes! It was UNDER the wines list, but the server presumed my wife wouldn’t know. I wonder what gave her away; her skin, her accent, me? Next on, other tables who came after us got served before us, but our order too a full 45 minutes to be delivered. A burger, a sandwich and poutine; 45 minutes; really? When she wanted to put my wife’s order down she said to me: “I’m not going to reach across you”. Of course I wouldn’t expect her to, but the correct way to say it was: I need to reach across sir, can you please move back a bit? When she came to take the dishes, she saw that my plate was completely clean but she still asked: are you done? All she needed to say was: “shall I take your plate away” but ARE YOU DONE?! Who SAYS that? Was it the jeans, the cotton T, the two-day stubble? Two other men there were exactly like that, but got treated way better than I did. I really can’t think of any differentiator other than the fact that we’re not quite “white” enough. Frankly, if my wife hadn’t stopped me, I would have asked for the manager right there. And she didn’t have the decency to thank us for our business when she brought the credit card POS machine - at my request - at the end of it. But don’t worry; I won’t be bothering you guys...
Read moreThis used to be my favourite place in stouffville to eat. My review before was 5 stars and highly praised this establishment. I used to eat here twice a month and highly recommend it to all my friends and family. But those times are gone. My last visit to the kings landing was unimaginable poor.
I went there to order my usual, the buffalo chicken wrap. I did notice it was a now smaller portion than my previous time but that wasn't a major concern as it may have been a one off. As I continued the meal I noticed something off In my mouth. As I inspected my wrap I noticed that who ever made it left a large amount of plastic in the wrap itself. If I swallowed I very well may have choked. Very unprofessional but sometimes these things happen. So I informed the waiter. She apologized sincerely and went to go tell the owner. (This is where the one star comes in) The owner was sitting in the booth infront of us talking to someone. When the waiter told him he brushed it off as nothing and proceeded to make a joke that its lucky that I didnt choke on it and laughed it off like it was nothing. Than continued to talk with the man he was with. Didn't go into the kitchen to check what had happened. He gave no apology. I had to talk to the waiter again for her to talk to him about a reimbursement of the wrap that he was then reluctant to give. He acted like it was my fault there was plastic in my wrap. Showed no concern for the saftey of myself or his customers
. By far the worst management by the owner I have ever witnessed in any establishment. 0/10 would ever recommend. Clearly the owner shows no care for his customers that keep him...
Read moreI really enjoy their beef-dip sandwich, which comes on a nicely toasted bun and has been consistent every time I've been there. I have also seen a portabello mushroom burger, which looked awesome and the guest that ate it really seemed to like it along with the sweet potato fries and some sort of chipotle sauce it comes with.
Portions are representational of the Stouffville area, which means that you pay a fair price for smaller portions of higher quality ingredients. It is expected for this area. A nice price-point to take someone out for lunch and have a beer or two ( many different selections on tap ), however a little high for a casual construction-worker utility meal.
The service was attentive, even though I get the feeling that I'm not the demographic they target for high tips - nor do I demand much in terms of service.
The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, while also being crowded and lively. Sometimes you have to wait for a table, but the turnover has been quick whenever we have had to wait. I wish, however, that they would turn down the awful music and turn off and then remove all the televisions... this isn't a sports bar, and it shouldn't try to be - it doesn't appeal to the boomer customer base to have football, hockey, and loud music from the 2010s to the point where it is sometimes difficult to talk to people around you. There are too many places that do that and have poor food, so it would really help to set this place apart if they didn't copy that strategy and only focused on pumping...
