I was making a little day trip to White Rock and wanted to check out Grounds & Greens since I'm trying to eat more plant-based these days and have heard it's good. The food certainly lived up to expectations! I had the misconception that it was basically just a foodie coffee shop, but it's actually more of a casual brunch restaurant with table service (if you know what you want when you walk in, you can order at the counter, and pay at the counter, but you can also sit and have a minute with the menu, and staff will come take your order). I arrived a little before 12 on Saturday and was surprised to find it relatively quiet, but the lunch rush hit hard around 12:30, and it's not a big place, so I'd recommend getting there before noon for lunch to beat the crowd. To drink, I got the seasonal "Oh Snap!" version of the Ice Queen, which is their take on dalgona coffee, the holiday version made with gingerbread-spiced milk and served with a gingerbread cookie. I obviously thought it sounded good but it was even better than I was expecting. The gingerbread flavour was perfect (I liked that I could really pick up on the spice, not just the brown sugar, which the bitter coffee helped bring out) and the whipped texture was interesting. The cookie was fine but unremarkable (just a basic gingerbread) but it was fun to dip in the whipped coffee. I had the Brekkie Wrap to eat, which also surpassed expectations. It was very filling since it was packed with protein and sweet potato plus a rich, flavourful spicy tahini sauce. The side caesar salad was actually equally as impressive as the wrap to me - their dressing was without a doubt the most delicious caesar dressing I've ever tried, I felt like it somehow captured the ideal flavour for a caesar even more than any non-vegan dressing I've had. The people there are very nice. I wouldn't recommend it for groups larger than 4 because the space is small and they have to move tables/chairs to accommodate bigger groups, but it would be a great place for a small gathering or casual date, and the environment is kid-friendly too.

Shall I compare G&G to anything else I’ve ever eaten? Thou art more delicious & more delectable. This is what I assume Shakespeare would say if Sonnet 18 was written about grounds & greens. I have been a regular of G&G since about March or April. I hadn’t gone in before then because I was so busy, but as soon as I decided to take an afternoon to try it out, my life was changed, and this isn’t an exaggeration! Sure, the food is incredible and literally anyone I bring here is now a fiend for their basic bowl, but that’s not the whole point! What really sets G&G apart is the environment and the atmosphere. I have never felt more loved and more appreciated in a restaurant than I do at G&G. When I ordered take out after my knee surgery, they packed me extra cookies and a loving message. When I went in there after not being there for a while, I kid you not they CHEERED when I walked through the door. I have had an awful few months due to mental and physical challenges, and yet the staff (and yes, the food) at G&G manage to make me forget about any problems, even if just for a little while. It may seem silly, but they truly have had such an insurmountably positive affect on my life since I became a regular. They make me feel loved and like a friend, and if that isn’t enough reason to go, then their basic bowl & their billionaires latte definitely will be. love you guys 💝

I read a lot of the reviews and man I couldn't disagree with most of them. First, I'm not saying it's awful, but I'm also saying it's not on my list of places I'd recommend you to go. The garlic soup sounded like something incredible as it has all my favorite ingredients, execution though was awful! It tasted like scraps from a pot that had been sitting for a long time, actually just take oil and garlic and boom you remade this soup. This was the worst dish we had here. I also had the brekkie wrap and it was fairly bland, the Caesar salad was good but saucy. That could be a preference thing. The girlfriend had a bowl and although she said it was good, she didn't see it much differently than most bowls you can get. Perhaps for this area it's really good or perhaps if you haven't been to many places. However I was disappointed and I couldn't agree with all the reviews.

Love this restaurant so much! Was visiting white rock for the day and found this on Google so I insisted on stopping for a coffee and cookie to go, thinking my non-vegetarian friend wouldn’t want to eat there. But when we went in to order it was soo cute and everything looked so good that we decided to stay. We sat on the patio and ordered a few different items which were ALL delicious, my friend loved it all too, then we couldn’t resist and each bought their sweaters on the way out because we loved the back of them and what they say and the fact that they are so original and you won’t see everyone walking around wearing them like you do when you buy a sweater from Aritzia or lulu for example. I live in downtown Vancouver but can easily see myself driving out here again just to visit this restaurant for a nice mimosa brunch (yes they have mimosa brunch on the weekends!!) . If you ever open a G&G Cafe in Vancouver or anywhere closer this way, please let me know! 😉😉 I can’t wait to go back and try more menu...
