A&W Canada — Restaurant in Winnipeg

This A&W inside of Grant Park Shopping Center is alright overall. There's a respectable sized seating area, though just like the McDonald's not terribly far away, when it gets busy, especially when school is in session and students from Grant Park High start to swarm the general area closer to 12:30 PM, it gets real busy to the point that you could have some trouble finding a seat, even with the overflow tables just outside of the restaurant's main footprint. Compared with other food court locations in other malls, it's a bit obvious that this one doesn't have a similar amount of staffing which can lead to even simple orders during the lunch hour taking a little longer than they would at the A&Ws inside of Polo Park or Outlet Collection for example, or just about any standalone location. One thing I've noticed about this spot is that oftentimes they'll inadvertently leave a consumable you may take for granted out, such as having napkins in your bag but no ketchup packets for fries (not that I particularly care for ketchup myself), or having ketchup packets but no napkins, or something similar. Be sure to have a look in your bag(s) before you walk out so you know if you need to ask for something you either want or need. Though with that said, it wouldn't hurt if the workers took a moment to ask something along the lines of "salt, pepper, or ketchup?" as they wrap up and prepare to hand out orders like other locations and chains. Ordered a mozza burger combo. Stood at the counter and waited for my order. Literally THE ONLY person waiting for food. After 5 mins the staff member behind the counter shouts out my order while looking directly at me and places it on top of the drink machine. I was less than 5 feet away from her and she’s screaming my order into the abyss of the mall while making direct eye contact with me. I reach out my hands in hungry expectation and she drops it on top of the drink machine entirely out of reach and stands there staring at me like I’ve ripped the bloody bottom head off the A&W Rootbear.

Like. I ordered from her. Stood there the whole time. Was the only person in the joint and she intentionally places my food at the opposite end of the counter on top of the drink machine after screaming its contents at me? 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

It was so bizarre. She couldn’t just give me my order? I wasn’t rude. I was polite when I ordered. Still can’t figure out why she pulled a mozza burger power move on me.

Yes this is a seemingly petty review but it was just so odd. It was one of those forced social interactions that sticks with you because it was so strange.

Ordered all Canadian Breakfast- Got cold sausage and bacon but fresh egg and hashbrown I would say. Server is not so accomodating cause I told her there is nothing coming out in the ketchup pump but she didn't believe me and took my ketchup paper cup in a not so polite manner and start pumping herself and nothing came out. She gave me ketchup pockets instead and told me "Its full ma'am its just not coming out" and I was like-- "Okay, I believe you but Im just saying nothing is coming out" - The other customer told her my complain that the sausage and bacon is cold but I said its okay cause I don't want to ruin their day- cause I am the first customer. Then surely she just accept that and not insist anthing in return but that is fine as I said its okay cause they might add somthing on my food.. hehe. :( They are also abandoning their post in the front and talking loudly from the kitchen not even checking if there is customer in the...
