Tried Aburi Sushi for the first time tonight and decided to do pickup. It was very good and the presentation was very pretty! My partner and I tried the Aburi Salmon Pro, Aburi Mackerel, Aburi Scallop and the Sexy Tuna Roll. My partners favorite was the Mackerel and my favorite was the Salmon Pro, but everything was really yummy and unique. I'd like to dine inside the restaurant next time (the interior is cute!) and try a new variety of oshi press sushi and other specialty rolls. There's a lot to choose from, so I'll have to go a few times to figure out what my my top 5 dishes are! :)

UPDATE: I went a 2nd time now and dined inside. This time the selections I made were even better. I tried the regular Salmon Sashimi, the Aburi Style Salmon Sashimi (melts in your mouth like butter holy hell!!), the Magic Sushi Cubes, the Baked Seafood Roll, Unagi Oshi Press sushi and Shrimp Oshi Press sushi. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the Magic Sushi Cubes... But both of the Oshi Press sushi were excellent! The lime zest and tamago in the shrimp one really enhanced the flavours! The contrast of flavour/texture of the traditional raw salmon sashimi compared to the seared aburi style one was lovely! I'll for sure be ordering the Baked Seafood Roll again next time as well— yum!! I usually order unagi nigiri, but I think I'll stick with ordering the Unagi Oshi Pressed sushi going forward, as it really impressed me. If I could have 1 wish for this place though, it would be for them to have the option of real crab in their rolls/dishes instead of crabstick/imitation crab. Also, their prices should be lower if they're not using...

Aburi Triple Kill and Temari Sushi set.

Take out from Aburi Sushi Restauant in Winnipeg, MB. Lovely flavour combinations. Quality ingredients. Enjoyed it. The aburi sushi was not torched, or seared, there is no imitation crab nor avocado. I saw a photo online and it did not look seared/torched. Hmmm. Well, unable to completely provide a complete review. The lemon marinade was a delightful touch. Quite disappointed with the lack of ingredients as listed on their menu. A tasteful and presentable dinner, even after a 20 minute drive back home.

Decided to try their signature aburi Triple Kill $17.95 and signature Temari Sushi Set $17.95, but they're both $19.95 now, because their prices went up 10%; a fading hand written note on the counter pointed by the staff to whom did not notify me, when I asked "is this your menu?" Lack of communication, but I still went ahead with the purchase and tipped.

The temari sushi set was very flavourful. Cute, fancy and colorful. No Avocado as stated on their menu; perhaps they replaced it with the mackerel fish topped with a green onion paste. Menu stated mango as well. Unsure if the one piece was mango mixed with something else that overpowered it.

Nice experience. Truly. I respect this place and do plan to have a dine-in experience in the future. I am certain and read that they have a high reputation. This review reflects on what did not coincide with their menu as well as communication. Made it home safely and plan to contact the restaurant regarding questions. It is worth your visit.

Expense: $45+ for 2...

  • LEGIT - THE BEST SUSHI IN WPG *

google review only gives 5 stars id give it 10/5 if I could

this place is a legit a hole in the wall. I really didn't want to make this review only because it's a honest gem - a luxury cuisine at an affordable price range

I've come here twice in the past two months for business meetings & I honestly cannot get over how consistent the sushi rolls, sashimi & charishi dons are & have been - they literally just melt in your mouth when you bite into them!

PROS • luxury specialty in torched pressed sushi • literally get anything on the menu it does not miss • staff is friendly & kind, always checking up on you • the interior design is amazing, eye catching & cultural • consistent with their food quality, taste, touch, smell & creative presentation!

CONS • the first time I went here was by accident - was a really hot day and there was no air conditioning (this might be a little uncomfortable for some customers but don't let that take you away from the fact they're the best sushi restaurant in the city to date) • parking is limited to Pembina and / or residential side streets • small dining area so make reservations in advance!

NOTE : I used to work in the restaurant & serving industry so good food takes time, you'll be waiting awhile for your food but it's hella worth it!

IF YOU DONT GO HERE FOR YOUR NEXT SUSHI PLACE OF CHOICE THEN YOURE THE ONE MISSING OUT NOT ME

HAVE CAME BACK & WILL BE COMING BACK IN...
