We had the most amazing meal at Bull & Filly last night!
We arrived at 7 and were seated right away. Piper, our server (I think that was her name) was just the sweetest.
I usually get an appetizer or a salad with my entree but this time I decided I wanted desert instead. Our party of 4 each got something different for dinner. I had the 10oz striploin, my husband had the brisket and our friends had the chicken supreme and the pork chop.
We all tasted each others dishes and my goodness were they delicious! It took a little while for them to come out but that’s okay when the food is as delicious as it was! Everything was fresh and hot and so so perfect.
My steak was perfectly cooked, the pork chop was so tender and juicy, the bbq sauce on the brisket was so good (and I am not usually a fan of bbq sauce), the chicken was smokey and had a good zip to it and I’m going to dream about those Boursin mashed potatoes! If it were possible, I’d never make my own mashed potatoes again and would just order a bucket full. If I had one piece of advice, a few more carrots and/or asparagus would have been nice as there was only 3 asparagus and one carrot but honestly, that’s just preference, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food at all!
We ordered a lemon tart and the sticky toffee cake for dessert. The lemon curd was probably some of the best I’ve tasted and the crust was so good. The sticky toffee cake with the vanilla chaeban ice cream was delicious but I think it could have been elevated just a little bit if it was served warmed.
If you are on the fence about going, I highly highly recommend it! We all can’t wait to go again! I’m so excited to try their brunch menu and there are so many other things on the dinner menu that I want to try!
Welcome to the neighbourhood! I hope everyone goes and supports, we need little local...
Read moreWe had our mom’s Christmas dinner recently, as we have heard good reviews and wanted to try a newer local spot.
The atmosphere is a vibe: it’s trendy, classy and really nice. Especially because you don’t feel like you’re in a hotel restaurant being here.
The food we had at the table was average. The best meal was the steak (according to my friends). The beet salad was very minimal (mostly lettuce and greens, no flavor to the vinaigrette, and there were 2 slices of a beet in the salad - I expect a beet salad to have a bit more to it). I would not order this again. The Gnocchi was super flavourful in a white sauce, and very minimal garnish. The fresh gnocchi was excellent, but overall it needed more to it. The butternut squash soup was good, but my friend finished it before any pepper was offered to the table. The crème brûlée was 10/10 and I’m happy I gave it a shot after being disappointed with what we’d had so far. The proportions of food were quite small, which is unfortunate because had the food been better I often do not complain about proportions at all.
The cocktails/mocktails weren’t the best either. I tried the blueberry bramble mocktail per our waitress’ recommendation (I wouldn’t recommend unless you absolutely love lots of ginger beer). I do, but this was a bit much. I could not finish the drink. The peach cocktail tasted like absolute peach vodka on ice rather than a cocktail, and there was nothing special about the expresso martini. I’ve had much better, but not worse.
I think overall some staff knowledge on the menu, flavour compliments, etc would be really helpful to make this a bang-on establishment. I’d like to see what they do with their menu in the months to come and give it...

We came here at a recommendation of some local Winnipeg foodies as we were on a quest to try something new.
Our party got the Beef Brisket, The Bull Burger, Fish n Chips and the 10oz steak.
I'll start with the positives:
Their steak was probably one of the best steaks I've had, they know how to cook a proper rare steak and balance it out properly. A lot of places that cook steaks often aren't able to cook a rare steak and they did. It was super flavorful, balanced and good.
The bull Burger was incredible, full flavor in every bite.
Fish n Chips was a generous portion and the fish was moist, flakey and great. The taters it came with were seasoned to perfection.
Constructive:
The beef brisket was good, but to be great it could had been seasoned better. The sauce on top was clearly there to hide the unseasoned meat underneath, I feel if it was, it would have had a more balanced profile. However the mashed potatoes swirls were great.
the bean salad that came with the fish n chips not only made no sense, but it was violently flavorless. Everyone at the table tried it to see if our one party member was crazy, but no, it tasted like watery beans. I'd recommend an alternative for the fish, maybe a coslaw?
Server:
We had a great and informative server. No complaints
Overall experience:
Good, there was ample parking, good service times and lots of space.
Would I recommend?
Yes, I'd say come down for the steak it absolutely is worth your time, just check on other menu items before hand and see what...
