Cindy's Burgers & Subs — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Unforgettable dinner! My family went to Cindy's for a burger last Friday evening and it was Unforgettable! We arived around 6pm and waited patiently to order our food as we were all were looking forward to burgers and fries and milkshakes. To bad the milkshake machine wasn't working, so we settled for some pops instead, and placed our order. No worries. Unfortunately as usual in restaurants nowadays we had to wait over 25 minutes for our "burgers and fries" to arrive (as usual skip takes precedence over dine in customers). But we received hot and good food with apologizes about the wait time, and proceeded to have dinner. Not too big a deal... But then about halfway through our meal the owner came out of the public washroom screaming and yelling that someone had (I'm being polite here) "dirtied" the washroom and proceeded to swear up a storm in front of my 9 year old.... Needless to say I was about done but my wife reassured me it was ok..... Next thing I know we have to endure sounds of the whole process of plungering and cleanup of the facilities......ewwwwww grosses beyond belief. I left mortified and will NEVER SET FOOT IN THIS GROSS ESTABLISHMENT...

Fantastic food at great prices. The restaurant is known for its generous portions and the basic special, a burger and fries for $7.95 is an exemplary example. The burger itself is as big as a man's hand, yet it isn't heavy or soggy. Loaded with tasty condiments, including a nice selection of veggies and a Greek tomato sauce, they are topped with a crusty yet very light and fresh bun. Full of flavor, they will leave you feeling satisfied yet not stuffed. And the fries? Bar none, some of the best in town. Light, golden and with a crispy crunch. Be sure to ask for a side of their savoury home made gravy for dipping. As my friend says, "It's liquid gold!" The restaurant has many other items as well from Greek gyros to hot sandwiches. Salads are also a prominent and popular item, and they are as generous as the servings of burgers and fries. The pros: great communication with employees, very efficient, they got our order 100% right and even double checked with us. Food came out quickly and was packed nicely in the bag.

The cons: the food wasn't great. The beef in the chilli was lacking flavour and was overcooked, the fries had no seasoning on them, the caesar salad had too much dressing and I couldn't even tell if there was parmesan cheese. For $17 I'd expect housemade sauce, parmesan cheese and a bit of bacon (not loaded on, a few sprinkles of crispy bits to mellow out the flavour).

Maybe it's nostalgia but I remember the food being a lot better. I understand prices have to go up but does the quality...
