Cora Breakfast and Lunch — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Waited forever for our drinks, waited awhile to order, was brought the wrong dish and had to wait for the right one. My girlfriend could have finished her meal before mine arrived, but waited so it went cold along with my toast. The server didn't bother to ask if there was anything she could do to make it right and didn't bother checking up on us until right before we finished. The fruit was poor quality as well. Very poor service especially considering it wasn't busy. When it came time to pay the bill, I complained and was made to feel like the bad guy for saying anything. I said it would have been nice if the server had offered to do something to make it right and the manager gave me every excuse from new staff in training, people make mistakes, we don't usually discount on orders that have to be remade and this is the cost of doing business. I didn't expect to have my meal comped, but the $3 discount on the $55 bill and being made to feel like the bad guy for having said anything about the disappointing experience seems like a slap in the face. I am being generous with theses ratings. I had gotten an eggs benedicts meal which came with mushrooms (i asked for none) and no spinach, they gladly switched it for me but when it came back my food was so bland, i couldnt eat it. My sister had got a Jessica meal, she asked for her eggs cooked over medium, which the waitress clarified when the food came the yolks were so runny and same with my pouched eggs on the eggs benidict. The waitress never came back to check on us the whole time and our waters were empty, till we were about to leave then a different waitress dicided to bring us some, we didnt speak to our original waitress again. We also watched our food sit on the counter for a while well many waitresses were walking by, slow service. I would not recommend eating here, this my first time being there and definitely my last. Last but most definitely not least, we found a piece of fatty BACON in the sugar holder, as if they were trying to prank us this whole time, but we were not in the mood for jokes. Avoid unless you have the most basic meal! Our server was good and our meal was ok until we got the bill. We had been charged for a full espresso rather than just an extra shot for my latte on the bill so I asked the server about it, who got the owner, which is where everything went wrong. The owner, who didn't introduce himself or explain his role, had obviously come over to tell us that as a franchise that was just how things were. He had no interest in listening to my perspective, was unable to even make eye contact and didn't attempt to find another way to fix the situation. We are frequent customers at the Waverley location where we have never had this issue. Charging almost $3 for an extra shot of espresso is ridiculous but the real issue is the owner's unwillingness and inability to address issues. We will never go back to this location because should there ever be another issue it is clear that no one cares nor will it be addressed.
