I've been here several times and as much as I want to recommend it, I just can't.

Every time I've come in, I've seen servers make multiple trips to tables to bring things like coffee or water while ignoring people who sat down 5-10mins prior. eg: instead of bringing one table four waters on a platter that can hold a dozen and making a second trip for a new table, bring extras and drop them off at the new table to acknowledge their presence. Likewise, instead of pouring coffees from a carafe and loading up a heavy platter then making a second trip with a carafe for refills, bring the cups and a carafe to the table then do refills on the way back.

Little things like that compound to make the service here genuinely slow and feel even slower, even though the servers are clearly hustling.

On top of that, the place is all hard surfaces with nothing to break up the noise, whether from the kitchen or the customers, so it's very noisy even when there's only a few tables occupied. If you're hoping to come here to work or study, the noise cancelling headphones are absolutely mandatory even at off-peak times. I came here once during peak hours. It was utterly impossible to have a conversation without shouting between the bakery traffic, the kitchen noise, and parties at every table. I left with a headache and my ears ringing.

It's disappointing because there are very few places like this in East K, the food is pretty good, and the servers are friendly. Between how slow it is and how noisy it is though, I don't think I...

I live close to this bakery so I thought I would check it out with a friend. The waitress was not friendly at all… Almost seemed like she disliked her job. She brought my friend her water with lemon and forgot mine. Seemed annoyed at me when I asked for it the second time. Both came with no ice, just water with two thin slices of lemon. It took an hour and five minutes before we got our food. My friend finally went to the counter to inquire on the delay and it came about five minutes later. The chicken cheddar melts had a minimal amount of chicken, had a weird taste and was cold. Every chuck of romaine lettuce in my Caesar salad had brown edges (not very appealing), came with no wedge of lemon, was dry and not very tasty and the coffee was mediocre. The portions were not the biggest for what they charge. I ate only half of what was on my plate… It was that bad. The noise level was deafening and not one bit relaxing. Unfortunately, it’s not an establishment that I will be returning to. Very disappointed with the overall experience. I had gone there once previous shortly after they opened to get a couple of desserts… Again, found it to be overrated… The desserts were expensive and dry. Not sure what the hype is...

My wife and I have been here three times now, twice for breakfast and most recently for lunch. All three visits have been excellent! The Cottage Breakfast is excellent as was the Eggs Benedict my wife ordered. However, lunch was where we were really impressed. I ordered the Cottage Burger which comes with a rasberry bacon jam with a garlic aioli, lettuce, white cheese and bacon. Positively incredible! My go-to burger from now on. Just as remarkable are their fries. Fresh cut, not frozen, but lightly salted. My wife tried the egg salad sandwich which she thoroughly enjoyed. But at the same time I had to fight her off from my fries! This location is also a bakery and their desserts are to die for! My wife and I walked out with 12 butter tarts, a piece of date cake, chocolate brownie cheesecake and Tiramisu tart. Still full from lunch, so we just sampled the desserts when we got home. We

ll keep some for dinner dessert, if they last that long! We

ll definately be going back again and again! The restaurant is light, not dark and gloomy as so many are now. No loud music, we were able to talk to and hear each other, something which so many restaurants could learn a lesson from. Will undoubtedly be...

Great bakery if you're looking for empty shelves. Showed up early afternoon and the shelves are barren. If you're open another 5 hours until 6pm you should have better stock management like white birch bakery who pretty consistently has fresh baked croissants all day. Reducing your waste is fine but not when there's clumsily no stock mid-day for customers who went out of their way to come to your store. Thanks for wasting my time. In response to the owner: donating your leftovers is great with the exception that if you don't even have enough stock for your paying customers you likely don't have any stock to donate. White Birch Bakery is a much smaller establishment and yet they manage to keep MUCH more consistent fresh stock so before you come at me telling me to reflect on the consequences of leaving a 1-star review, maybe reflect on the sub-bar management that led to the consequence of receiving a 1-star review? I get it, taking accountability is tough. Or perhaps I should take time out of my day to "pre-order" a single croissant the day prior?

Thought we would try the Cottage Bakery on Edison as we are excited to have something new in the area and we like to support local. Ordered 2 cinnamon buns and 2 cherry turnovers to take home. I did not see the buns being cut and packaged as it was done on the back counter. We were a bit disappointed when we got home. One cinnamon bun was about 3 ½ in. wide and the other was 2 ½ in. wide (pretty puny). I guess consistency in size is not a priority. They tasted pretty good though. The cherry turnovers were good, but very little filling in them. I think $13.44 was pretty expensive for what we got. I appreciate quality over quantity but I don't feel either was great for the price. I did like the atmosphere in the bakery though. It is very clean and modern. Not sure if I would go back.

I have had the pleasure to both dine here for lunch with a friend and come in for desserts now and quite honestly I think this place is nocking it out of the park. There was one hiccup when I came in for lunch as the service was a little moody towards us and a smile seemed hard to come by from anyone that wasn't in the bakery portion of the eatery. I understand everyone has there days though. The dishes had a good portion size and it was good comfort food, I would definitely try eating here again. What I come back for however, is the mochas and baked goods. The mochas come in so many flavours and are made to perfection and the desserts are made so fresh and fluffy. The chocolate mousse bombs are me and my dads favourite and we love to come here to treat ourselves when needed.
