888 Chinese Express — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Wow. Wow. Wow! I was hesitant to order at first, based on the reviews here - everyone seemed so angry. But, I realized people were mostly mad about it being late or not arriving so I took a chance because stuff happens! And quality food takes time as well as popular places.

Anyways! Singapore Vermicelli was amazing and huge portion size! Delicious, fresh, hot and well packaged!! The Shrimp Chop Suey was also delicious, hot and fresh, such a large portion! I also got a combo dinner to provide a bit of the things I love and everything was better than I could have hoped for. The breaded shrimp was cooked perfectly, yum!! And the chicken balls were cooked the best from anywhere I've ever eaten. It also was authentic white meat chicken that had a large ratio to the breading! I have leftovers and I am so happy about that! I also got an egg roll that came with the combo plate but I am too full to eat it hot. I will save it for later!

Now the restaurant charges you for chopsticks and at first I thought that was really lame BUT it turns out they are long, beautiful, plastic chopsticks that you can reuse for leftovers.

I'm very impressed by this restaurant and I felt you guys needed a great review and not all these haters!!! Amazing, quality...

Waited 1 hour for pick up after I got there food. Sitting in the waiting room I started noticing details about the place, the 2 air cons facing into the kitchen are discusting, they are covered in mold and dirt, the backing of the clock is falling apart and looks very cheap and dirty. The pictures are cheaply put on the wall with tape, the big picture is crooked, the bottom of the main desk is covered in black muck, walls and floors look like they have never been cleaned, the chairs are the cheapest you could buy, the TV has a horrendous mess of wires again coverd in dirt and dust. If this is how they care about the waiting area I can only imagine how clean the kitchen is and I'm sure they go cheapest ingredients along with how cheaply everything else is done. The food tastes okay but its Chinese it's all loaded with salt like every other place. The lady at the front also seemed extremely confused. If I had been in and out fast I would never have noticed how discusting and cheap that waiting area is, which tells you a lot about the mentality of the owners and pride they have. I'll go elsewhere...

Ordered through skip the dishes... order arrived without any rice, and was also missing the free item for orders over $40 (mine was over double that after taxes etc). Called and was informed that rice is not included when ordered through skip the dishes, and that the free item also did not apply. So ultimately no rice, usually you have more than you know what to deal with, but who knew? Unbelievable! Rather than an apology, they tried to make it sound like it was my fault (or skip the dishes) for not ordering directly from the restaurant. How a delivery service impacts the quantity or quality of the product is beyond me. To make matters worse, half the order was either mush or horribly over...
