KFC — Restaurant in Winnipeg

November 28, 2024, KFC McPhillips: order 9 piece chicken with large fries and 2 individual gravies, 10 pieces hot wings, and large salad. Hot wings were fresh as they were made to order, but 6 out of the 9 pieces of chicken were dry and hard as if they were sitting for awhile then re-fried. There were only 3 pieces of chicken that were fresh and tender. Very disappointed in this location that they would sell this to a customer. The price is not cheap and the chicken should be fresh all the time. It's funny how this location never replies to the complaints. I guess one has to call the head office directly. Old review: Ordered extra crispy 20$ fill up comes with fries and gravy. Wait time under 15 minutes. Always very tasty and fresh. This location is alway clean and the staff for the most time are friendly and professional. Only issue i had this time which i didn't appreciate, was staff at cashier called for next person before i could put my coins in my wallet. Proper Customer Service is to give time to do that as some customers have disabilities and it take a bit longer. Could be a training issue. What is wrong with many of the KFC locations in Winnipeg where the recipe has gone down the toilet in the past year or two!?. Of course, KFC is nothing like it was in the 70s no longer fried in Lard, but I expect there to be more breading and a lot more flavour in it, the breading has gotten thinner and thus less crispy and less tasty!!!! I know the recipe and how the colonel taught them to toss the chicken over and over in the flour and spices a VERY specific way…. So I know the local restaurants are no longer double tossing it like the Colonel did!! it’s a very specific way that he tossed the chicken in the spice mixture to get enough coating. And I’ve been very disappointed at all the restaurants where I’m posting this review I hope the management smartens up and trains their employees to how it is supposed to be done that I could still find a couple years ago to get enough breading and flavour on the chicken. Until I hear from management they are going to improve, I’d rather go to Popeyes...

We did a mobile order for a extra crispy 25 piece party pack. Not even 5 minutes later I received a call from them saying they only had 5 pieces of white extra crispy would we mind the rest in dark or original. We prefered to have the regular rotation of chicken in extra crispy so I asked if it was possible for them to cook more. If we didn't mind waiting of course they could, so that's what we did. When we got there, the chicken was almost ready. She was very polite and friendly. The chicken was delicious. Every thing was hot. Nothing was over or under cooked. It was perfect!

What impressed me most is that they easily could have not bothered to call and just went and completed the order. It was take out, we wouldn't have noticed 20 pieces of dark meat until we got home and by then do you want to get your meal corrected or just say never mind and forget it. Sure one should hope and expect a place to get your order right but that is not a standard most places care...
