I haven't ordered yet and it's already my new favorite place. This atmosphere is infectious, it's packed wall to wall everyone is smiling and happy. I feel like I'm having breakfast at my nanas with everyone. My heart is happy. I would have never found this place on my own.
Update: for $6 I just had the BEST breakfast I think I've ever had. The waitress was an absolute sweetheart who knew most everyone by name and has the warmest smile. ILL 100% BE A NEW REGULAR. I can't even begin to explaine what a diamond in the rough this place is. It's so tiny, everyone sits shoulder to shoulder. But it's such a warm family feeling you feel like you're getting a big warm hug the second you sit down. It's self serve coffee tea and water so every so often someone will come by from a neighbouring table and offer to top you up. There's signed photos from a cpl celebs like GarthBrooks, family photos, and a small muted TV playing Corner Gas (that's what was on when I left the house to go there ahshah). When I say I'd never have found it myself is because it's in a spot I normally avoid, but I know it's where my mom grew up cuz back then it was beautiful. I am so happy so have found this little gem, I hope to become one of their "known by name" customers, and I hope they are open for generations

Read moreI came across this place and it had good reviews. Even though I didn't care for the area, I figured it was a little gem and I would give it a try. The atmosphere is terrible. Not very cleanly and the tables are way too close together. Absolutely no sense of privacy while you're eating. I understand that it is a small space but it's uncomfortable and ruins the experience. The girls were polite and the service was nice at least.
The food was okay but it didn'tmake up for the atmosphere. The borscht was a bit too salty but still tasty and probably the ONLY thing homemade. Otherwise it is just a lot of sandwiches and stuff that comes from a deli, frozen or pre-packaged and heated up.
I was disappointed that there were no homemade desserts or anything either. You would assume a little place like this would make more of an effort to be authentic. Even the perogies I think are just frozen and boiled, not homemade. Shame.
But the worst part... CASH ONLY?! It is 2024 guys! It is not expensive to have a debit machine. Through Square for example it's only 10 cents a transaction. Don't tell me that you can't afford that. I wonder if they just don't like to claim all their income. Not having other options to pay these days is just ridiculous.
Sorry but I would not recommend and will...
Read moreGreat, casual, local deli restaurant. I came across Luda’s on a hunt for good perogies, and was not disappointed. I really wanted cottage cheese perogies, but they serve potato filled. Even so, these were some of the best restaurant perogies I’ve had. Perfectly fried (they also offer boiled and deep fried), nicely topped with fried onions, and served with a generous dollop of sour cream, just the way they should be. I ordered them with kielbasa (“Kubasa” on their menu) - a good choice.
This is not a fancy place, but that’s part of its charm. The dining room is small, and the service very familiar and friendly. If you want water, coffee, or tea, help yourself.
Take note: cash only, and the deep frying is done in peanut oil.
If they had cottage cheese perogies on the menu I’d have given them five...
