Modern Coffee — Restaurant in Winnipeg

This is the best absolute place to go for coffee in Winnipeg. I used to work here and the owner and other staff are the best! Definitely go here all the time. Their matcha is amazing and coldbrew too. The photos and antiques inside make this cafe so unique from any others. It’s so tied to the history of the North End and when you walk in you can see it. Community members are always here and there’s so many regulars. Way more than other cafes I’ve worked at. It’s honestly because of how relaxed and friendly everyone is there. I tried this coffee shop at the recommendation of a friend, unlike many other reviewers I don't live in the area or know the owners. I found the espresso-based drink quite bad, it was hard to taste any actual coffee in the beverage, just steamed milk. It reminds me of a latte that one would get at a church fundraiser and I was surprised to receive something like this at a dedicated coffee shop. Stopped in for the first time today to this amazing coffee shop! The atmosphere was great and the barista working was so friendly and provided fantastic service despite the bit of a lineup. I decided to try the Smoked Tea Latte and wow it was incredible! It is a tough one to describe my best attempt would be similar to a London fog but with a strong flavour of a perfectly toasted marshmallow over a campfire.

Definitely plan on coming back to sample something from the coffee side of the menu next time but I think it will have a tough time topping this...
