I have a pizza theory. It consists mainly around two theoretical types of pizza. The first is artesian pizza, or "fancy" pizza. These are the types of pizza you would find at a more expensive sit down restaurant that offers stuff like stone oven fresh baked or something similar. Typically non chain restaurants, you get the idea. You go out with your spouse/family to these places and sit in. It's good quality pizza. This pizza is trying to impress you. Sometimes it succeeds. You spend more, but the quality is there.
The second type is garbage pizza. This is mega-chain-tastes-the-same-across-north-america pizza. Places like dominoes, pizza-pizza, and suprise, papa johns. But it does something the fancy pizza doesn't: it satisfies your inner filth of a human being. It scratches that primal hunger at 2am that only a Big Mac can fulfil. It's garbage, it knows it, and it knows you want it BAD. Because sometimes you feel disgusting and places like papa johns capitalize on it.
That's why papa johns gets 5 stars. It does the filth so well. It makes me regret it a day later- but not the night of. When I go to fancy places I get a lot of toppings. They taste fine. When I go to papa johns I rarely get anything other than a pepperoni and cheese pizza, and my pea sized reptile brain squeals in ecstacy when it opens that cursed box to see the same pep and cheese it has seen countless times before at 2am on a Friday.
See you...
Read moreI received a Papa Rewards Member Exclusive offer for 40% off all regular priced pizza via email today. Followed the instructions but repeatedly received “ You don’t have any offers right now. Check back later.” After numerous attempts I called Papa John’s client services at 877-547-7272. The representative checked my account, said the offer was on my account, suggesting I was doing something wrong. After approximately 20 minutes, she said she would check into things and call me back in 3 to 5 minutes. 55 minutes and not having received a call back, I called them again. The representative again told me the offer was on my account and suggesting I must be doing something wrong. After sometime, it became clear that they did not have the skill to rectify the situation. I told them that if they couldn’t fix it, I would never again purchase Papa John’s Pizza. He hung up on me! I called the Papa John’s store at 2609 Portage Ave. in Winnipeg, related my experience to the person including telling him, I wouldn’t purchase Papa John’s again. He apologized for my experience with Papa John’s corporate client services, telling me he would make good on the offer provided I showed him the email when I picked up the pizza. That location provided exceptional client service and they have a...
Read morePapa Johns as a chain is great. Love their food, their prices and deals are great. That being said, this restaurant in particular? Poor, at the best of times. They falsify orders as made, ready and en route to you, so as to avoid being penalized by the chain, or refunding you for a delivery arriving 1.5 hours after ordering, they treat customers over the phone terribly, by yelling, screaming, and then feigning inability to speak english, lie about delivery times, and blame the customers when asked about it. Then there's the food. 5 times I've had orders where the stuffed crust isn't stuffed properly, so i have a deflated, empty shell crust and a massive lump of cheese on the end of the pizza. I've had them skimp on toppings and sauce, compared to when I order from other chains. I've had the pizza arrive squished twice, and I've had them forget the pop once. I won't be ordering from this Papa John's again, and I don't recommend others do so either. The franchise needs to pull out from...
