Terrible service from the manager and our particular server. Came here for bunch with my family. About 15 mins after being seated the server took our order. Food came an hour and 15 mins after being seated, or an hour after taking our order. No update in between, no refill of coffees, I had to go up and ask finally where our food is, and only 10 mins after that did we get an update. She came and told us we should get the food in 3 mins. It was then another 10 mins after that not 3. New customers came and sat down near us and got their food before we did. I spoke with the manager after that, she made excuses, said it goes in order, I said ok but then why would new customers get their order before ours? She smirked rudely, acted as if I was making it up, and I had to work hard to even get a discount on the bill. The manager should have come to our table, apologized for delay, offered to make it up all without us needing to complain, like other restaurants. And at least get an update rather than leaving us sitting there with cold/empty coffee cups. Seriously terrible that she would argue with me and scoff as if all of this wasn’t true. Read moreI actually enjoy the food at Salisbury house especially at the st. James location. I had bad service and food at this location about a year ago. I thought I'd give it a try hoping things had improved. Unfortunately that was not the case. It took 20 minutes for our waiter to come and offer service.After another 15 minutes a waitress came to ask us how we were doing we told her we haven't seen or coffee or our meal yet. 5 minutes after she brought us our coffee our original waiter came and asked us if we wanted dessert and our bill. When I did receive my meal the Salisbury steak was dry and instead of mashed potatoes I received hash browns. I let the waitress know and she went to get my mashed potatoes. I never did get my mashed potatoes that meal. For dessert I asked for the fruit cup but had to return it because it was old and dry. To the credit of the second waitress she discounted my meal. You could tell by the waitresses demeanour that giving discounts was something she had offered numerous times before. Won't be going back to this location. Read moreI went for a breakfast about 11:00 am and got a seat within 5 minutes, I was alone. After 15 minutes someone took my order and brought me my tea. It was busy with a few folks waiting for tables. I starting reading the Free Press while waiting for my food and lost track of time. Then I realized tables around me all had new people with their food. At 12:35 pm, a group who were sitting behind me were complaining they already waited almost 1 hour. Looking over I realized the gentlemen that were sitting behind me are gone. I can not believe I had to wait that long and my breakfast was still nowhere in site! I didn't even get my tea topped up! I complained and the poor waitress was just beside herself with others who also were waging complaints for errors to their receipts. If anything they should have handed out free meal vouchers for the next visit...if the patron even decides to come back. I was in food service for many years and there is nothing they can tell me to justify wasting my day. No manager in site that I could tell. Very very disappointed. I was expecting better...
