My spouse and I attended this particular Smitty's last Wednesday for their wing night. As we had never been here before, we thought we would give it a try and we're pleasantly surprised to hear they had wing night on a Wednesday; instead of just the standard Tuesday and Thursday. Upon arrival the service was horrible and the lounge was filthy. There was popcorn thrown all over the floor and the lounge as a whole appeared it hadn't been cleaned all day. We first had a female server who asked for our orders, but then proceeded to take a minimum of ten minutes to bring us our drinks - and no wings. Keep in mind it wasn't busy and the servers were all congricated at the bar top socializing. Finally, a male server was approaching with OUR order of wings, but mistakingly brought it to the table beside us. When we confronted him, he apologized and explained they had a similar order to ours and he would be back with our wings as quickly as possible. Another twenty or so minutes passed and he then came out with our wings (Lemon Pepper, Salt and Pepper, Hot and Honey Garlic). The first few bites were edible, but as the scorching heat went away, we were beginning to notice just how soggy our wings actually were. It was apparent that the server was so eager to get us our wings in a timely manner, that he got the cooks to take the wings out of the deep fryer too early - ultimately giving our wings the texture of mush. Additionally, I had noticed there were tiny hair follicles in each of my wings. Now, I'm not talking about an amount that can be expected; these were about 1 cm long. We asked our server why there were hairs poking out of our wings and why they were soggy. No real explanation, aside from it is normal to expect this with what we ordered. I have visited this Smitty's twice and was disappointed both times. I really enjoy Smitty's for their all day breakfast and I have been to every one in Winnipeg. This is the only one that I will no longer be returning to. Both times I have felt like the staff were just doing the bare minimum. I don't know if it's because they're on Pembina in a plaza with a Tim Hortons and a gas station and other stores so they know they'll get business regardless, but the atmosphere and the workers both times felt cold and uncaring. Almost no smiles, bitter coffee, small portions on my hash browns, butter on my toast when I asked for it dry.....I understand that everyone makes mistakes, that isn't the issue......I can feel that there is a lack of care there. I'd recommend any other Smitty's in the city where I always have a great visit and leave a tip - I felt a little embarrassed but I left 0$ for tip both times at this place. Maybe they need new management.

Edit: I am upgrading my score to a 3* since the manager replied to this promptly and professionally. I was in a fairly bad mood when I left this review, and now a few hours later, having seen the manager 's reply, I am willing to come back in a few weeks and try again. No one is perfect and I feel it would be wrong of me to permanently condemn a business that is making an effort. After my next visit I will revisit this review.

Worst experience in... Winnipeg so far. This Smitty's has been always good place for me, but not this time.

First the server brought a wrong menu- We ordered the 'boned' wings not the boneless chicken tender so we asked for a replacement. The server said they are going to bring the another basket and not charge us as long as we DO NOT TOUCH them until she brings the correct menu; weird but ok, we did not order it anyway, but felt pretty offended.

My friend ordered an Ice tea, which apparently charges you whenever you require to refill - did not get informed until we get the bill; he ordered 3 refills but 2 of them were forgotten anyway by the server, but she kept asking if she needs to bring the bill. My friend gave up after calling her 4 times.

Finally, we got the wrong bill- She only charged the half price, could be good if we ignored and ran away with those unexpected bill, but I wouldn't do that since I had been visiting here every occasions nearly 7 years. Therefore we waited a LONG time(20 minutes) for correction request, expecting she comes back at least with a machine, but she did not show up. Therefore we just talked to another server walking by, and finally our server brought the right bills - but it was wrong again. We asked for correction again. A moment later, then she basically "threw" the bills to us, saying nothing and ran to another table to take their orders and never came back, and ignored us. We had to stand up and head to the front to make payment.
