Well, it's finally happened, a Wendy's that's actually in practical reach of the east end. You may have noticed my previous writings on the Beaverhill location where I said that if you weren't west of Day, you might as well forget about delivery. I'm finally happy to report that even if you're as far east as Edmund Gale, it's still in easy and practical reach. Demand was and on some nights is still very strong, to the point where the drive-thru lineup gains a considerable distance onto Regent. You'll find that this can also be the case indoors as well. However you choose to order, you'll generally get your stuff very quickly even when there is strong demand and a pileup of orders, and I've noticed during the couple of times that I've gone inside that there's a roughly equal prioritization between in-person orders and SkipTheDishes drivers picking up delivery orders, so it seems that both sides are being given relatively equal attention without preferential treatment either way.
The inside seems to be a bit louder than most, particularly when the ice makers on the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines are running. I have to agree with Sandra a little further down in this review section, the one thing that this location is sorely lacking is a display to keep track of what orders are being called up. That's something that the St. James location has after it got rebuilt and renovated to the newer style in late 2019, and the fact that this brand new build doesn't have one is a bit odd, especially as I mentioned above that it can get quite busy and loud.
I really have to say that their bagging choices are VERY logical...almost too logical in some cases. An example of that would be if you bought a combo and you also got a few other things outside of a combo, you'll always have the items that were part of the combo in the same bag even if it would otherwise make just as much sense to bag like with like. If you've got a drink or a tray of drinks and you'd rather not try to carry something like 3 bags, you can also ask them to put them all into a single big bag and they'll happily oblige.
Getting out can be quite the challenge though if you don't want to go south on Plessis, so odds are that you may just have to trip the Transit priority light just to be able to keep going east. Not exactly a huge deal seeing as not even the buses think to use it even when it's advantageous for them.
Otherwise, I can't really complain at all, the food tastes great like any other Wendy's location. The workers here have been and continue to do a fantastic job to keep up with the demand. Dig in Transcona,...
Read more-500 Stars. This place is an absolute trash hole. The entire restaurant was filthy, food and trash flung everywhere. Not a single staff member actually out in the restaurant cleaning, or doing anything. Some drunk/high woman next to me kept asking me if I worked there, while dumping her food everywhere. The staff was wildly incompetent and incredibly rude. I ordeded 2 of the widely advertised "Wednesday" collab meals. I asked the staff what came with it, they had no idea. They asked what name to put my order under, I said "KC. Just the letters K and C, no one spells my first name right lol" what do they put? Cassy. After getting the Wednesday meals I looked up what they were supposed to come with and we were shorted 4 of the advertised items. When I asked the staff about it they were incredibly rude and condescending, even confused. Even the lady I believe was the manager was incredibly rude, claiming I was wrong, despite the meal being pictured in advertising all over the restaurant, inside and out. Instead she argued "that must be American" nope, it's literally on your signs and menu boards, please give me what I paid for. Nope! Instead she chose to yell and make up very obvious lies, since, again, the advertising was literally everywhere. She did not offer a discount or any kind of alternative for the missing items. So I paid $30 to be shorted a third of the items I paid for and to be berated by incompetent, rude staff, in a filthy, loud restaurant. Do not recommemd! Don't waste your time...
Read moreI went to the drive thru and when it came to payment I personally asked the cashier if they took Amex Express, at first he looked at me and said he’s not sure and highly doubts that Wendy’s takes Amex. So feeling a little frustrated, I used a different card, but as I go to tap my card, I see an Amex logo on the card machine. When I asked if he could refund it so I can use the other card, he said they don’t do refunds. So I asked to speak with the manager. In all honesty the lady was very unprofessional. At first she seemed understanding and she would check, then 2 minutes goes by waiting at the window and she’s wondering why we’re still there. She said something about how stuff has changed and they don’t take it anymore, which is weird because she said they did when I first asked. Then when I mentioned how I saw the logo on the card machine, she showed me the card machine that is basically on the main screen not showing any payment. She even used the headset to ask the cashier something, I didn’t understand. So I do the obvious and search up if Wendy’s takes Amex. The answer is yes. I understand you have a timer in drive thru, and this shouldn’t be a big deal, but you shouldn’t change the answer and lie to a customer the second time they ask. She didn’t even try to check and just...
