The Pub At Norwich Ave — Restaurant in Woodstock

Ridiculous experience - supposedly no takeout food after 8pm? My husband and I read great reviews before deciding to eat here. We tried calling to order take out but the phone was busy everytime we tried to call. We decided to just go to the pub and order take out there but when we got there they said they couldn't do take out after 8pm as it was too busy. They said that if we sat down and had a drink we could order food and they would give us takeout boxes we could put it in. So we were able to sit at a table right away because it wasn't that busy and we EACH had to order a beverage, we weren't allowed to share one even though we weren't staying there to eat. Less than 5 mins later they brought us our food with take out containers to put it in ourselves and charged us for both our drinks that we didn't even want. I have friends that love this place but it really seems they only care about their regulars customers and...

Been here a number of times. Every time it's the same thing... awesome food, great prices and friendly, kick-arse service.

The food is great, hot and comes out pretty quickly. The staff is great; friendly, helpful and they're great with kids, too. The food is not gourmet, but it IS some of the best pub grub I've had, and portions/cost are more like an American restaurant. (Meaning lots of food for reasonable price.)

This place is the quintessential "local watering hole". It has a "rough-and-ready but happy-to-see-a-new-face vibe". It's the kind of place where people talk across tables because everyone knows everyone else, and a stranger can chime in they want to. It's just friendly and chill.

I come here whenever I can. I love it. I wish it was in my hometown, but I make sure to stop in whenever I'm in Woodstock.

March 28, 2024 my wife and I showed up for wing night so it was busy we did wait for quite some time which is understandable. There was a group of 4 infront of us and nobody behind us for about 20 mins until a group of 4 showed up! We wait about another 15 mins and as a table clears I go to take it and get told by the bartender my wife and I can't take it we don't need a table that big even though we waited 20 mins longer. It was a 4 person table but had 2 chairs pulled up to it as extra. The entire restaurant is tables of 4 or more. If there is no hostess it's first come first serve. In the end I was told I couldn't take a 4 person table and was given a 4 person table but after the group behind me. I was left extremely disappointed and will not be returning.
