We spent five enjoyable nights in Our Haibitas, San Pedro de Atacama. ||Our room was huge, with plenty of space for our suitcases, large bathroom and a good bed. We missed a coffee machine or kettle in the room plus a few hungers on the walls. There are so many empty walls that hungers would facilitate the guests. |We enjoyed the outdoor shower too although was winter time. Lovely swimming pool was not heated so even we tried to enter around 14:00 o clock the water was freezing!||Breakfast was good and the two mornings we had it at the hotel was super calm because most of the guests leave earlier for excursions. For the days we had excursions leaving early morning, the hotel was preparing a take-away breakfast bag for us. We loved the cereal bar which looked home made. ||We had the stargazing session one of the evenings without extra fees. It was offered by the hotel to its guests. We enjoyed it a lot! Pity, I cannot recall the name of the person who gave the session (we've been told was half German). He explained everything clearly and shared his knowledge. In another location during our holidays we needed to pay for a stargazing and the session was not at all good! |This one, at Our Habitas, given by this man was amazing!||We didn't have any dinners or lunches at the hotel so I can comment. There are so many nice restaurants in the city so we didn't have the chance to try the one of the hotel. Upon checking, in the receptionist tried to convince us to be charged 250 dollars as a credit for any services we may use at the hotel while staying there. And that this charge would be a value for money for us rather than getting charged afterwards individually for any service provided from the hotel. She explained us that if we wouldn't get this offer, it would be more expensive afterwards to be charged individually for any service because we would have the addition of taxes. This 250 dollars would be refunded if we wouldn't use them of course, but don't forget it's the exchange rate also with your home country currency and you will never receive the exact amount back. Ourselves, we didn't take this offer by the hotel and in my opinion it was not needed if you don't plan to eat at the hotel or have a massage etc. We didn't use any of these so we did well for not getting it.||Last, I would like to comment on the location of the hotel which is a ten mins walk from city centre. Yes, the road is gravel and dusty and you have to walk it all, receiving dust from the passing cars. In the late afternoon they spray the road with water for reducing the dust. Its not that a big deal but sometimes you get annoyed. It's everywhere the roads like these though. The difference with staying at the city center is that the speed limit there is lower and the cars don't create dust, where Our Habitas is located a bit on the outskirts and cars move faster.||Overall a beautiful and memorable stay! We enjoyed it a lot and would stay there again when in the region. San Pedro de Atacama is a lovely little town you can fall in love with too!||~ a kind tip: Don't water much the cactus along the walking path in the hotel. Daily watering will destroy them. We noticed that every day, these cactus were being watered! You could see they began turning yellow on top! They don't need...
Read moreThe setting (10 minute walk from town) is lovely -- verdant, green, a small community of individual "casitas." Lots of seating areas (indoor and out) and a refreshing, pool oasis. That said, the service was lacking. There were a few individuals that bent over backwards to ensure a stellar stay (Phillipe was one), but basic information about local sites from the front desk was limited, towels at the pools were often not replenished, nor were the chairs returned to their original locations at the end of the day, so the following morning, the pool area appeared disheveled. Wonderful fresh juice and tea selection in the morning, but the rest of the breakfast selection was only average. Often fruit bowls were left unfilled, the breads and baked goods were so-so, as was the meat and cheese selection. The room was lovely overall, but there were no shelves/drawers for storing your clothes, so we lived out of our suitcases for 5 days. Attention to a few design flaws and increased oversight over the daily needs of guests would have made our experience 5 star. As it was, our experience was more 3.5. The potential for the perfect sanctuary certainly exists, if management focuses on training their...
Read moreOverall we had a very disappointing experience in Altiplanico. The hotel is well decorated. Breakfast has decently amount of varieties. However,
First, overcharging. We booked a standard double room for three nights. When we got there, the front desk checked us in and didn’t say anything. Later, they came and asked us to pay $25 USD extra for “water fee”. We didn’t agree. A day after, another staff came again but this time with a different reason, “we normally charge a higher price and you need to make up the gap.” During the checkout, they used a third reason, “breakfast for the 2nd occupant”. We eventually paid it b/c sick of arguing.
Second, bad internet connection. The hotel room barely gets any wifi signal. We asked them to change the room for us but it didn’t really help. Frontdesk’s explanation is, “you should keep restarting your device”.
Third, we had a dead spider on our bed. The hotel is fairly clean so we would guess the spider thing doesn’t happen very often. Just want to bring it up in case cleaness is on the top of...
